How Spacey Are You?
-All the moons of the Solar System are named after Greek and Roman mythology, except the moons of Uranus, which are named after Shakespearean characters.
-Astronauts brought back about 800 pounds of lunar rock to Earth. Most of it has not been analyzed.
-Only 55% of all Americans know that the sun is a star.
-Uranus is the only planet that rotates on its side.
-On a clear night in the Northern Hemisphere the naked eye can discern some 5000 stars.
-Jupiter's moon Ganymede is the largest moon in the Solar System, and is larger than the planets Mercury and Pluto.

Yeah, americans are stupid. It's still amazing though.

the sun isn't a star? what's this blasphemy you speak?
come on, honestly. what the hell is wrong with you americans?

Yes, and the Fins with all their technological, medicinal, scientific and artistic breakthroughs over the past 200 years are simply fudgein' brilliant...
"Only 55% of all Americans know that the sun is a star."
That's because George Bush speaks for 45% of us, whether we like it or not.

well, though americans are stupid, even I don't think that they're quite that stupid. It's propably just that after being asked "what is the sun?" people get confused and just say "I don't know" though they'd know the answer if they thought about it a little. seriouly, if someone didn't know that the sun was a star, what the hell did he think it was? a planet? a black hole?
EDIT: It's still amazing though.

Well, duh. It's a really big planet of course!

16% of the people know that 78% of statisticians just make up 86% of their information on the spot, while the remaining 25% (with 2% margin of error) make up only 48% of theirs. This of course, does not take into account the 17% of statistics that statisticians make up ahead of time.
Ya its a star, but it's name is the Sun. Perhaps thats a title.
I wonder if you asked someone "What is the sun?" how many would point up at it and say "That!"?
There is an article in this months National Geographic all about the sun.
Hey can you guys see the Aurora Borealis up in Finland?
Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Striker: That depends on what percentage of all people are statisticians. 32% of people know that not 11% of people are statisticians and therefore make up 99% status absurdities.
what's the plural form of the noun "status"? is it "statuses" or "statusi"? 93% of english speaking people are clueless to 58% of the language.
VaultDweller, depending on the strenght of the solar radiation at the north/south poles, aurora borealis can be seen (or has been seen) as far as France. Here in Finland in the winter they are quite frequent, at least here where I live (Kainuu)
Hey aren't all the planets named after greek and roman mythology? Oh yeah, and Europe was named after a woman Zeus raped.
And some day there will be a countries named after Tal and WC. I'll make sure of it.
