Five Years.

Almost everyone learns to talk within five years of being born.

A lot of people complete their high school (or secondary school) education in less than five years.

Some people even complete a bachelor's degree in less than five years.

One musical artist even wrote a cool song titled 'Five Years'.

And, now, Bill Szczytko, of Dorinthia fame, admits that he's spent the last five years playing and bug testing Quest for Dorinthia: Special Edition, and is ready to present the fruits of his labor with v2.5. Bill admitted there were too many changes to list (though, presumably, this fixes a bug that happens if you kill the guards before getting the sword). So, now's probably a good time to revisit this classic.

2nd generation. No easy way to be free.
And Let's not forget Hard Sun, a british television series which is (loosely) about what to do during the last 5 years before the earth is destroyed!

I'm enjoying going through this dmod again, and I am finding all the new discoveries I'm making while doing it extra fun.

Good work.

Let me know if you run into difficulties.

I did, but not a lot:

On map screen 251, there's a huge block of wall hardness at the bottom; since there is no hardness on 283 (below it), and the screen locks when you enter it, this breaks the game. As a workaround I got in on the extreme right side, which worked, but it's obviously a bug.

The gag reel is completely broken. The first part has the knights not moving because you set the speed of one of them twice (so the other is not set). That makes it hang. Also Dink is not visible in that scene, but he should be.

After fixing the hang, it worked, but it still didn't look perfect. The scene where the king can't stop laughing does not give enough time to read; I think he and Dorinthia should not speak at the same time, but wait their turn.

Finally, I was talking to a guy in Athello before I had to go kill Linus; I don't remember what he said, but at the end of the conversation I wasn't unfrozen, so I had to restart from the last save point.

Sorry, I've overwritten all of them with newer saves. But the problems are easy to find:

If you look at the hardness of screen 251, the problem is obvious.

The gag reel is all in finalwiz.c ie(). The hang is caused by line 480, where &guard1 should be &guard2. The same change should be made on line 382. Line 487 is missing a comma, so the move doesn't happen. On line 530, the move_stop should be a longer distance so there is time to read the text. Similarly for all the move_stops after it in that scene.

I have not been able to reproduce the hang in Athello, and looking at the source I can't find the problem either...
