The main reason people are complaining about it is because this is one of the most powerful global corporations attempting to get free labour out of people when otherwise they'd be paying Indians with PhDs a dollar a day to do this sort of thing. The rest are complaining about the potential for the YT Gestapo to mobilize soon of course.
This may force some people off to Vimeo, however they have a no vidyagaem footage rule meaning that some sort of alternate arrangements will start popping up similar to what happened when gun owners decided to leave after their ad revenue was slashed and their channels deleted. I have a feeling Google may withdraw it or heavily neuter it before it goes live. Just look at those thumbs down.

Yeah you're right. Google in particular rarely seem to go back on things, and the forced Google+ integration was only lessened a fairly long while after it was implemented.
Overall we're going to see a situation where the entire thing will be subject to abuse. In fact I just signed up and am waiting to be approved

If this hits hard then we may see a situation where they simply give up and walk away entirely due to the slashing of ad revenue. Level-headed people aren't going to enter into a sweatshop scheme such as this meaning it will most likely consist of literal children which should work out nicely.

Is this Youtube conundrum even affecting our foreign friends here? I don't know if they get a different kind of Youtube than us, and maybe they have their own kind of problems about it.
as far as i know, google ducks the whole world nearly equally. sometimes videos are region locked for no reason.
as for china, they could either have their own version (with like, 2 propaganda videos), or none at all. i know china usually gets their own special version of something if it's deemed alright by their almighty thought police.

No, actually in Romania it's different. It's like a tax. Half of my family's taxes is because of youtube. We have to pay to be able to access it. But if we don't pay, some people in red come and cut off a finger of every family member. Life's tuff, man

Also Dink sounds like "dick" which is phallic and oppressive. I now have PTSD.
So it'll basically be how it's always been, except now they've made it public information and added a "point system" to the site, which will change nothing except make their rules slightly easier to exploit/abuse for the common person.
Problem is that people could "group together" and flag something that offends them or something that they dislike. Youtube is basically giving moderation to the userbase, and those people will prioritize their own likings and agendas and not uphold Youtubes policies. It really worries everyone!
That already happens though. Various influential people have in the past told their followers to all report certain videos of people they don't like. In that regard it will just get worse.
