new dmod -- THE LAST QUEST (part 1): The Oraculum
I have uploaded the 1.0 version of a new dmod this past weekend. Once it is posted for general downloading, be sure to let me know of any problems that I need to address within it.
Thanks and have fun.

Are you sure you released this D-Mod here?
I can't find it...
I can't find it...
There doesn't seem to be any dmod in the list of files waiting for approval. Maybe the upload failed?
I definitely uploaded it and I am pretty sure I didn't do anything wrong. I think that ReDink (Dan Walma) has to do something to make the upload available for download.
I clicked on the [Contribute] button, then [New File] panel. Then I filled out the Description and ticked the category [x] D-Mod, Chose a file from my computer's hard drive (lastqst1.dmod) and clicked on the [Submit] button.
If I made a mistake somewhere, then I'd be happy to upload it again, but would like to know what I did wrong first.

Check Contribute -> View Contributions. You should see your file there, along with its current status (pending/approved/rejected). If it's not there at all, that means the file didn't upload properly for some reason. I think the uploading process can be a bit iffy, since there isn't any kind of loading bar, nor, I think, even a failure message; you just click submit, and then wait for the page to finish loading. If your internet connection breaks up during this time, or the DN servers go down for a moment, that can easily lead to a corrupted file/no file uploaded at all.
Thanks for your help.
This time I got a message when the upload was complete that said "Your file was added successfully, and it will be reviewed by a staff member soon.".
I then went to Contribute -> View Contributions and saw this information:
Type Title Updated Status
Version THE LAST QUEST (part 1): The Oraculum v1.00 Sep 19 2016 Pending
File THE LAST QUEST (part 1): The Oraculum Sep 19 2016 Pending
So, I think it worked this time. However, I do not (yet) see it on the "Latest Files" section of the http://www.dinknetwork.com/files/ page.

You'd probably want to make an account to upload it on, so no one takes credit for your work or that we know you're really you. I've seen some files uploaded by ghosts, but anyone can pose as them here and I can't even remember their names so you can tell how important they are.
Plus for the contributions tab, if the staff reject it for a list of reasons (link) you'd probably want to know what the problem was (If there is a problem) without having to wait for them to finish refilling their soda machines.

It's not in Latest Files because the admins hadn't added it yet. Hence why you have Pending at the end.
It used to be the case back in the day that you'd send your file as an attachment to redink and he'd add it to the site without needing an account.
If I am able to post to the forum, and have an icon and such, isn't that all the account I could possibly need?
WHEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEE'SSSSSSS THEEEEEEEEEEEEE D-MMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!?
Can you only upload D-mods, if you have an account?
you can email it to a staff member and they'll take care of it too.

It seems that there is a delay in getting uploaded dmods to be made available for download. In recent weeks, both I and Baphomet have uploaded some work and it seems RobJ may do so soon as well.
Since that first weekend I have tried to reach Redink by email, to no avail. I can't stand this interminable waiting #!@^$%!
1) How long do we usually wait for one of the DN administrative staff persons to get around to making these files available (on the Latest Files section of the http://www.dinknetwork.com/files/ page)?
2) What is the longest it has taken in the past?

True, it's taken much longer than usual. :/ it's a mystery to everyone
It's the end of the DN, it was foretold in the prophecy.
1. That which is old, will get wrinkly (Ms.Dink's prune collection got wet and then had to be dried again)
2. 2 Jesters will cross in a night (Skurn playing 2 Jester cards.... when we were playing UNO [Though would that be 3 jesters?])
3. A wolf will howl while there is no moon (Kris' dog wouldn't stop making noise when there wasn't a moon, also Kris wouldn't answer any messages when I tried to tell him)
4. A Demon will spawn (After 5 months, Striker's collection of rubbish/gifts from Skurn, turned into a living breathing monster when he was flexing and produced some sweat that fell on it)
5. Adventures will be cut short (That is either now, or when I plan to shoot one of us in the knee)
There is more, but it seems like it is destined.

I apologize, SlipDink. Thank you for your contributions, I'm sorry that I didn't address your e-mail sooner.
1) Based on the last couple years worth of new files, they're usually approved within around 2-7 days.
2) I think a few years ago we had some files that stayed pending for about 2 months. The biggest delay I found was 'Dink and the Bonca' (submitted Jun 28 2014, approved Jul 14 2014, for a total of 16 days).

I just started playing this, and found a few bugs:
- In the smith's basement, the exit doesn't work; it brings you to the shop screen, but outside the shop area. Walking around it to the door warps you outside (and thus back in the normal game area), so that's a workaround, but there should be a warp from the cellar to the stairs.
- After helping the monster, trying to enter hir private room locks up the game; zi says "Hey, that is my private lair!", it plays the ORACULUM sound and I can't move. The only thing that still works is pressing space, which plays the sound again. The text doesn't even vanish. Perhaps it was because I pressed space while the text was displayed. Anyway, there doesn't seem to be a workaround, so I'll need to restart from my last save.

YOUR D-MOD HAS BEEN RELEASED!! I am off to play it now.
Thanks for your detailed answer and (as always) everything dink that you do.
Excellent bug report shevek! Thanks. I have addressed these two matters and they will be part of my 1.1 release.
Since the two issues seem to have minimal workarounds, I won't post my 1.1 version right away and will await further reports from dinkers around the world.
Keep me informed folks!

Thanks Baphomet! I am very pleased to know that the story appeals to you.
I like to play D-mods that have a good story line.
Another one, I have no idea how but &candlerooms can become -1, and then the next candle refuses to jump into the lantern. This can be "fixed" by changing == into <= on line 44 of lantern.c. Of course it doesn't fix the problem (because I have no idea what that is; it seems that the function must run twice in parallel or something), but it makes the lantern work again.
Again thanks for your detailed error reports and (in this case) even an excellent "fix" for the problem. Like you, I'm a bit puzzled about how the &candleroom variable got decremented twice so that it became less than zero.
I'm guessing it must be that Dink quickly moved from one room to another and perhaps hesitated on the boundary moving back at least once so that he "entered" two rooms in rapid succession.
Anyway, thanks again for the bug-spotting and the help you offered in fixing it.
Do you think this lantern.c bug is a great enough threat to playing the game that I should now upload my 1.1 version with this handful of fixes?
1.1 patches:
- minor textual changes in warptalk.c
- eliminated freeze in bonclair.c and altered text, etc.
- fixed broken warp in smith's basement (screen 578) to his upstairs shop area
- adjusted warp point a bit further down in the quiet forest (screen 706)
- changed == into <= on line 44 of lantern.c in case &candlerooms becomes less than zero
