Your predictions for CC3
What would be your prediction for CC3?
It could be a variety of things, so I see no reason to guess.
Well I just feel in my heart that CC3 inst "Quite" dead I know it sounds weird but....It just DOSENT it hard to explain the feeling.
Necromancer
Necromancer
CC2 is better then SOB and PQ
Id rather have CC3 then Necromancer.

I believe the opposite, and don't say that CC2 is better then them, without proof.
I genuinely think CC2 is better than SOB & PQ in every area barring polish. I'm not going to argue the case because I'm the author and it would be foolish of me to get drawn into such a debate, but I think CC2 has better writing, has better characters, has more interesting questlines, has far better combat and better boss fights... Etc.
SimonK can duck off giving CC2 a 7.9 or whatever he gave it. 100% BS and he knew it.
How about that for some controversy?

I still say SOB and PQ are better, you can have whatever opinion you want I don't care.
When I said 'Necromancer'. I meant that it will remain in developmental hell forever.

I just looked up the reviews and it was an 8.9

Kris: Yeah, that's what I thought you meant. Fair enough, I say!
Punisher: Aye, I saw that after checking but I was on my phone and editing was a bummer. Still an unfair representation of the game, I feel. But you can't please everyone, so nevermind, eh? It was more irritating at the time because he consistently reviewed his own d-mods so highly. I'm not bitter...
Dack: Thank you for so graciously allowing me to have an opinion that is different to your own.
Note - I appreciate the irony of the above comments. Shuddup!

That's not all bad. Also I just can't believe that a staff member would tell another Dinker, let alone a staff memeber to "duck off". Also I hope that the D-mod Necromancer does come out.
Edit: I don't care what people think and I don't care if they like my ideas or not, you can worship a can opener and I wouldn't say anything differently, except maybe to borrow it.

Funny, I've always thought the same way. Perhaps Simon knew CC2 was gonna be a threat to Pilgrim's Quest so he rated it that low on purpose. Looking at Scarab's score, if you removed Simon's review, it would probably have 9.7 as well.
I also agree that CC2 is better than Pilgrim's Quest. In fact, I don't really understand how PQ is rated so high. I think it's far from the best D-Mod ever. Not even SimonK's best; I much prefer SOB.
I've played many D-Mods through multiple times, but I've never managed to play PQ a second time without always getting bored within the first 15 minutes.
EDIT: Yep, just read his review again, and I must say it's kinda ridiculous. He said Initiation had a "definite edge" over CC2, which is a total lie. I'm not gonna say he can't like Initiation better, but in reality, Initiation lacks in every aspect that CC2 delivers in. Storyline, map, characters and gameplay. Besides, if you go according to his review on CC2 (enemies being too tough etc.), he should've rated his own D-Mods much lower. I must say I smell a little bit of a fraud there. xD

I'm a controversial character. A maverick, some might say. Someone who doesn't play by the rules, someone who follows their own path.
Yeah. A maverick.
Yeah. A maverick.
SimonK had the graphics on his side Back then that was huge. I wouldn't say it's the most important thing in a game at all and I definitely value story/combat/gameplay over graphics, but for a game like Dink where everyone reuses the same assets, the breath of fresh air had a big impact
You're right, K, of course.
New graphics have always had a huge weighting.
New graphics have always had a huge weighting.
I'm one of those people who never really loved SOB and Pilgrim's Quest as much as other people. They feel stretched out, confusing, and boring and I got lost constantly without the help of a guide. With the help of the guide, well it just went back to being boring. I'm not trying to diminish the hard work that was put in those DMods, as that is undeniable and the graphics are honestly very nice too. But hard work and pretty sprites doesn't mean it's the best DMOD ever made...
I think I tried to play CC2 once but something kept me from finishing it, I can't remember what...I'll have to try it again.
Ah I just realized, I haven't reviewed SOB, I was thinking about it at one time but I guess I didn't so people wouldn't get angry at me, hehehe. Oh, and I stopped playing close to the end so I guess I should finish it before trying to review it...
To be honest, the DMOD I have played that I would rate the highest right now would probably be Initiation, simply because it gripped my interest and didn't let go, and despite what some people say, I found it quite enjoyable to explore and many secrets to find.

SoB and Initiation were always among my top favorite D-mods, ones I always go back to play again after having a long break from TDN. CC1 and 2 I don't think I've ever beaten or even put any substantial time into. I do intend to play them eventually, when I'm not busy with other stuff.

Initiation is probaly the only d-mod thats JUST as good as CC2 both D-mods where made during the peak era or the epic era of the Dink Network (2000-2005)
I find it it diffcult to choose between Initiation and CC2 both d-mods are at the top of their game within their own rights
However i dont find it difficult to choose between CC2 or any of SimonK d-mods

CC2 is the reason why there is no CC3.

How do you improve on perfection?
How do you improve on perfection?
How do you improve on perfection?
By making it better?
By making it better?
How can you make it better though?
How do you improve on perfection?
Well, you can't really. Though perfection is just a concept that's impossible to reach. But just for the hell of it let's entertain the thought that something is perfect. It can no longer be improved upon, if it could- it wouldn't actually be perfect. However, one could change their perception of what defines perception thus changing its concept overall. If the definition of perfection gets altered, it's safe to assume a perfect object is no longer perfect, because if it were to stay perfect it would have to change with the definition.
Regardless, it's impossible to improve on perfection.

I'm not sure it's impossible to improve upon perfection. It depends on how you define "perfection."
For example, let's take Pac-Man. Pac-Man was an enormously successful game because it was fun and addictive, and in the simplicity of its concept, one could argue it was perfect. But then Ms. Pac-Man was created, and against all odds it managed to be an even better game without changing things too terribly much. Does this make the original no longer perfect? I don't think it does. Both have achieved their concept to perfection, but Ms. Pac-Man is still superior.
Tetris is another good example - even if you don't agree with me about Pac-Man, Tetris is absolutely the perfect game. It's probably the most addictive game ever made, and it's utterly impossible to find fault with the original version of Tetris - there's nothing wrong with it, so it's perfect. Later versions, however, added innovations like a "ghost piece" showing where your current piece will fall, an instant-drop mechanic, and the ability to hold a piece for later; I think these make Tetris more fun. Again, improvement upon perfection. I think the reason that this is possible is that the new features are not essential, they're just good. The original doesn't really suffer from lacking them, and it's still fine to return to it, but they are still nice to have.
Regarding reviews of DMODs - everybody's entitled to their opinion, aren't they?

@cocomonkey, How was Ms. PacMan better and why don't we improve Dink, he is kind of perfection, but maybe the graphics.
Sabre said he'd give the beta/demo if i gave him my E-mail adress
He hasnt.

Maybe he couldn't find your email address or he couldn't build the demo.

Way ahead of you, Dack. Can't say RPG Maker graphics are better, but with some leeway given, I could make the game exactly like the original Dink as far as gameplay goes.

What does leeway mean? Also to ruin the experiance even further, a joke, Where do babies come from.

How's it coming along?
How's it coming along?
Well, I'm still working on Dink's graphics, though one of the pre-made actors has a similar look, including a red bandana. I'm still looking for a decent map, one that isn't a massive file because massive files take too long to load and have a huge chance of crashing the computer.
That, and I'm focusing on smaller projects to better understand the program. Making a Dink port to VX Ace is a huge task and requires skill.

If you remake Dink remember to add one detail that was mentioned in SOB, that he is a Virgin.
SoB is a D-mod, and is not apart of the 'official' canon, if there is one. (As far as I know.)
The only things I consider "canon" are the original and Mystery Island.
Yah I guess that Mystery Island could count, but then couldn't Dink count as a captain? Also Kris, without the D-mods Dink would be sitting in his chair and then maybe die of a house fire so I say that at least the Epics describe him as well.
IT's pretty much a straight port, Dack. Sure, I'm going to follow up on some of the concepts, give it a little personal flair, but the game proper will be the same as the original.
Or maybe he just didn't want to give the demo to one of the worst members this board has ever seen.

I don't have a copy anymore. If anyone who does have it wants to send you a copy, they are more than welcome. I can't remember who I gave it to.
It's really not up to par though. There's some fairly cool stuff in there, but nothing that's going to wow you.

C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
That's very nice of you to say so, Punisher.
What does Sabre even look like? Also I'd rather have someone else as King.
Go to the Dink Squad.
After looking at all the pictures, my thoughts on most of those people changed, also why aren't our pictures on them. Also I don't see why someone "handsome" deserves to be Leader, You could have a genius that's ugly and an idiot who's beautiful.

Why aren't all the new people's pictures there?
Maybe becasue everybody too lazy too update
You guys wanna know what people look like? I just took this picture of myself a minute or so ago.
I've got that same hat. No joke.
So why don't we just get up for a minute and take a picture for Dink squad, also can someone tell me how to?
I guess there is great curiosity to know who is behind an avatar. Knowing how someone looks helps, not as much as a meeting in real life though.
Some dinkers are really cool. Proof.
EDIT: Though the idea that certain individuals are existing persons can be scary...
