Whoever thought this worked, must have been trippin' balls when approving it. It actually could have worked, if it was funny, but it isn't. It fails miserably as both an actual review (which I get it wasn't trying to be) and as a joke. I wouldn't have a problem with it, if it was a forum post, but as a review it's a blight on all the files and other reviews out there. Personally I think it should have been saved 'till the 1st of April and then removed. That way, it might have somewhat humoured me.

No offence to Pillbug. I actually kind of like HSL's fun silliness, but Toast's review is plain poo. And unlike the D-Mod iself, not the good kind of poo either.

And before people ask me "why so serious?": Because I'm a sloppyjizzumer, who likes to chew on uteri.

I don't agree with every observation, but it mostly matches the thoughts I had while playing. I feel Pillbug has done a great job conveying all of the difficult topics he tackles within the story. Sure, some of it might have been a tad bit hidden for the casual player, but the overtones are there for the astute reader to observe!

Great review of a deep game!

You feed the madness, and it feeds on you.
This was deep. It brought tears to my eyes, and I now appreciate life in a new way.

My complaint is that the review tries to say too much about the author, which is not necessarily implied by the game. Just because his name is Pillbug doesn't mean that he has all the same feelings as his counterpart in the game; it could be his way of roleplaying, a satire of some sort, etc., or it may indeed be his real feelings. With that aside though, it was quite an entertaining article of text.

Personally I think it should have been saved 'till the 1st of April and then removed

But if he did that it would mean it was a joke...

I will defend that review with my life. Every single word in that review is true and Happy Sunshine Land has changed my life forever.

I saw this D-Mod on the front page of USA Today, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Well, I'm glad you people are getting a good laugh out of this. Because I really don't get what's so funny in writing one of the longest reviews on the site, and saying everything that's opposite of the truth, in it.

Happy Sunshine Land is now rated above D-Mods such as, for example, Pointless, Kill the Hippies and Search for Mother, all of which are WAY better than HSL, and it gives a totally wrong idea about the D-Mods. Some of the staff really seem to enjoy approving reviews which misuse the reviewing section of this site. Reviews such as this, which were only written to get a raise out of the community, and reviews such as Toast's, which was meant as a joke, but failed at being funny. I mean, at least Skorn's SOB or Karel ende Elegast -review managed at what it was trying to accomplish, which was flame, but Toast's fails at everything it tries, mainly because it tries too hard.

Now excuse me, I'm gonna go rate Pilgrim's Quest 0.5. because I think it is one of the worst D-Mods ever made. I expect my review to get approved, since it will only be a joke, where I tell everything that is opposite of the truth. I mean, Yeoldetoast's review got approved. Why wouldn't mine?! Hurrah!

EDIT: I took down Skorn's SOB review, because that one actually was pretty bad.

If it's a long and deep read, it gets approved by even the most steadfast mod.

Believe it or not, I wouldn't rate Stone of Balance nearly as high as most people... But yeah, I wouldn't rate it quite as low as Skorn either. I hate getting stuck in games and having to rely on strategy guides. If it only happens once or twice I can get over it, but Stone of Balance had me confused sometimes even though I was following the guide at almost every step. So I would probably give it a 6.5 or 7 being that I haven't really enjoyed it at all and I felt like a guinea pig the whole time. I liked aspects of it (the graphics, secret bow lore, some of the story, etc) but not the game as a whole.

So, I can see where Skorn was coming from with his review, but I think he exaggerated his score a little too much.
