about stopping music and general scripting
Ah, once again the search bar has failed to work in my favor...
I need the procedure to stop - or rather pause - the music in a script.
Otherwise, I don't have much information about more advanced scripting, but just what is available in an introduction to Dmod making, so my big question is: where do I get the rest? At least some more involved stuff (and don't get me wrong, that tutorial was great for beginners).
Right, thanks for the help.

stopmidi();
playmidi("thetune.mid");
loopmidi(1);
Try the official DinkC reference. I use the actual book, but theres a text/help file somewhere.
And theres a loop function post I remembered seeing for the music to.

I'm pretty sure when you download dink or windinkedit, you also get the DinkC reference guide. If you don't have it…
FANCY LINK THAT IS ALSO FANCY!
That's a very helpful file, it's been very kind to me, so don't you hurt it.

I swear by the physical copy of the reference guide. I sometimes read it on the toilet for fun and inspiration.........
Ok, so it seems I can't altogether stop the music if I have it on loop...that sucks since I want to be able to loop music.
I noticed. Hehe, enjoying the comments,,,thanks for that info, Kyle.
No, if its on loop and you try to stop it (as mentioned in my link) it basically resets the midi to the start instead. Its one way to do that, however.
Just read Sparrowhawks post that I linked to and you'll have that issue fixed.

So you mean I just spent all that time editing the function to end the music every second? Fifteen minutes of my time wasted...
Well, that'll simplify things.
Well, that'll simplify things.
One thing you are going to find out about creating D-Mods is that you'll end up wasting a looooooot of time.
"Fifteen minutes of my time wasted..."
Fifteen minutes of my time wasted as well... while you were scripting this, I crawled in through your chimney and made my way to the kitchen, only to find that you're cookie tin was empty.. that only took 2 minutes though, because I'm a ninja... but it seems it's much more difficult to make my way up your chimney, than down.

So you're saying you're a ninja when you can get down a chimney but not up? I thought anyone can get down a chimney but only ninjas can get back up.
Allright, everything's working fine!
In regards to your comment, Skull, I hope to be wasting a lot of time on dmods in the future, just as long as they work in the end.
Oh, and we have no chimney, you must have the wrong house (hah, my address is safe from ninjas...for now). Also, you would have had to have been veeeery sneaky, considering I'm sitting with my lappy in the kitchen now.

Robj actually hypnotizes his prey so they forget he was ever there.
Note: Robj has been known to build chimneys into houses and then deconstruct them after stealing your cookies.
Heh, I see - throughout the rest of the floors of the building as well, then?
You might find these tutorials handy as well - if you haven't noticed them already.
Sorry for going on-topic again... /Party pooper

Ah, awesome stuff, but I'll have to check it out when I'm not too tired to be bothered to try to think.
I've noticed that in some versions of Dink (Aural+), you can stop a looping midi. So on the off chance someone wants to create the effect of resenting to beginning of the track, they shouldn't rely on that trick. And I guess you already figured this out, but just for clarity sake, all you have to do is loopmidi(0); before stopping the music, then loopmidi(1); after you start playing music again.
Wow, another swedish dmodder!
Well.. they are the best after all

This is quite the occasion, gentlemen.
Hello, nice to hear you found my introduction to DMOD making useful. It's always nice to recieve compliments. To really learn more about DMODing I'm afraid you really have to do it the old fashioned way: By learning while doing and consulting the DinkC reference. And looking at other DMODs to see how they did things, of course.
And of course a warm welcome here, always nice to see new people.
EDIT: And, of course, you can always ask.
