I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say enough is enough. We all know it can be done thanks to the amazing joke magicman and GlennGlenn pulled on April 1st, but that should have been the end of it. They changed their avatars back but still others are using one that weren't available to the general public.

I and others, I'm sure, disapprove of such misuse of the Dink Network and humbly ask anyone else to return their Avatars to a legal standard.
The only thing I'll say about it is that using the Anonymous User background is the only change I made to myself; I like the greyness, but even then if someone tells me to change that back too I'll do it. The availability of more backgrounds would be nice, I'm sure; but we're limited to what is available for a reason.

And to those who've figured out the easiness of doing what GlennGlenn & Magicman did, please don't or stop spreading this information to other users. C'mon people, we're all mature and respectful members of this community here. Let's keep it green, shall we?

I agree. I admit I was kind of curious of this at first and annoyed cause I didn't know how to change it, but it is not the reason why I don't like people doing it. Redink knows that it is possible to do what you're doing and knows that you're doing it, but doesn't really appreciate it. It is a simple reason why we have only the standard avatars to choose from: to stop flamewars from starting.

You know, I can't recall the last time I saw a flame war start about someone having a custom avatar...

Even so, you are limited to pictures on the site. You people probably complain about the heat in summer, and the cold in winter.

Yes. Flame wars are born of these things, this thread is a perfect example of a small one. And the avatar images could violate copyright laws.

This is far too much fun. I mean, I wouldn't bother copying somebody elses picture if I had complete freedom of choice. Eventually they would overlap as all combinations would become used up.

As far as I can recall it, you're only allowed to have a custom avatar if you've made new graphics in a D-Mod. I think it's a bit childish to be trying to bend the forum structure and HTML - "hack".

To get your own custom avatar you need to earn the blessing of the Walma Spirit. They need to be custom d-mod graphics, but the final decision is his and his alone.

You need to remember that only 4 (Not sure on this... SimonK, Striker, Carrie and Okaly-D-Dude?) people have ever been granted a custom avatar. It's not very common.

No, I'm fairly sure the graphics were created by Striker and stolen by the makers of Samurai Showdown. Some kind of temporal distortion caused by his awesomeness allowed them to travel forward in time and steal his designs.

No. Very few people have genuine custom graphics. Editing existing graphics does not count.

There are no specific requirements to fill in getting a custom avatar - It's a decision made by Dan on a case by case basis.
