How long does it take to finish making a DMOD?
I believe that a quest doesn't take long, but how about an epic?
Anywhere between submitting it in six months, to telling people five years later that it will be released tomorrow, day after day...
Ah,that's quite a long time...
Would depend on how much time u spent on it Pathfinder u spend lots you get finished sooner
They never get finished. The days of Epics are over.
Why?I mean...Epics are welcomed...
What Skull means, is that nobody can be bothered making them anymore. Many, like you, have said they would make one, but then we never here of it again. Most of the skilled scripters have left or mysteriously dissapeared, and the community just isn't lively enough.
I didn't say that I would make an epic,I just want to finish a quest for now...
There will be new epics in the future, just be really patient. People that start creating one usually get a life before they finish it thus delaying the progress. Whatever the reason for delays I bet there's still people able and willing to create good epics around here.

Indeed... but just because you don't hear of it does not mean it is dead.
Looking over my 'goodbye' thread, most people posted as if The Dark Avilan is dead as well... just to let those people know, it is not dead. It is backed up and put on hold until I have time for it, for now all my time is focused on my studies.

There could also, quite easilly, be some secretive projects not even mentioned to the public that some people might be working on without anyone knowing about it.
*looks hopefully towards some of the skilled scripters on the DN*
I'll say one thing, I hope to get a quest or romp released at some stage. Most likely a Romp to displace what can be done with the Quest Log once I have it perfected.

You can make one in a matter of days, but I wouldn't advise it.
A Knights Tale was made in 3 days. Cloud Castle 2 took 3-4 years.
If I was working on something nowadays, I wouldn't announce it. Too many projects get announced and never appear which is quite disheartening to see. If I was to release another d-mod, I would only announce it when it was ready for beta testing.

CC3 is the follow up to CC2. It is expected because it's a trilogy, I think we can vindicate Sabre from that one. Also he said if he would be working on something now, CC3 work was started a long time ago.
I agree with Sabre that I wouldn't like to announce a DMOD too early. Paninga was possibly announced too early, but I wanted to give Christiaan's upcoming DMODs thread a kick start at the time. Also I still think it'll probably be finished some time.
Also, how long a DMOD takes depends on a lot of things. Most importantly the level of quality and the amount of time per week spend on DMODing.

*sigh* It totally depends on complexity and content, the less complex the quest is, the faster it can be done. Also the ammount of time you spend on the quest and making the d-mod also effects the time to finish it. In my example: In working on Dink's Nightmare, Diablo (name soon to change), and Selda. These can take forever becuase I am not interested in it, and becuase of time generally.
So basically the average time to make a d-mod is one week, not counting government interference. First, they demand you fill out a request form that you print out from a website that is no longer compatible with current web browsers. Then you send it in the mail using $5 of postage and wait 3 months for a response. When they respond, you then get your license for the specific d-mod, and a lawyer is assigned to pounce on the slightest legal mistake you make in the process of making your d-mod. This is the time that you realize that the government website put a virus on your computer that crashes it whenever DinkEdit is on for more than 5 minutes. When you compress your d-mod into the file format to be posted here, the virus detects it and erases your hard drive, and then your backups the moment they connect.
After this roughly 10-month process, assuming you avoided any lawsuits and have no social life, you will give up and instead make add-on campaigns for Battle for Wesnoth.
And if you're dating somebody, you should break up with them until you have completed this process. If you're married, divorces are optional but since they happen a lot anyway you should just get it over with now, just make sure you keep the computer when you have to give up some stuff.
Short version: Yes! You should definitely make a d-mod. They take practically no time to make and very little emotional/social/legal ramifications. It's a great idea. So get right to it!

LOL EvilEarl nice to get a smile off this board again
I wonder how much of that will be quoted?
Chores took me about 4 years.
With the long pauses, obviously

I wouldn't post something just to get quoted, but yeah that was funny.
