Good luck, I've beat the game in under an hour so try to be faster. 
Stone giants and other monsters at the latter part of the game can be avoided easy enough, but dragons and Seth are propably going to be a she dog. I never bought any other items than the herb boots and a stack of elixirs for darklands... I don't know if using levelups on magic is such a good idea, because hellfire will still take a while to load and it's altogether not that strong. As for getting all the stat boosts, you'll definitely want to do that especially when you reach the edge of the world because you're propably going to be pretty underleveled by then.
