I don't know. I do agree that this is surprisingly somber for him though. The segments Oddball and The Worst Person in the World are good for an occasional laugh. His show is far from news, though. When I watch it, I feel as though I am reading an editorial or a blog. He talks about what HE cares about, whether the audience actually cares about it is a different story.
Even so, it is the most watched "news" program after The O'Reilly Factor.
The show is not very serious and is often somewhat funny, but never as good as the daily show. Even so, this statement is not one to be overlooked.
