Hi all. I had some questions to Seth, and I thought that maybe some of you would be interessed to see what he answered.
1. I've seen that you're making a new game, "GreenTree: The Lost Prince". It
looks cool. Will it be like in Dink, that you can only walk in screens? Or
will you be able to walk around in the world without the screen thing?
You can walk around the whole world, no screen transitions, everything
scrolls. Each map could be as big as the entire dink work (or bigger), and
you can have as many maps as you want, and they can directly link to each
other with warps/doors.
Also, entities can do things off-screen, for instance, you could be sitting
in your house and Mr. Smilestein or someone could just walk in the door and
yell at you, then go outside, and back into his house, whether you're there
to see it or not.
2. Who will be able to beta-test "GreenTree: The Lost Prince"? And are you
going to sell it or make it a free-ware?
Beta testing will be open to anyone who signs up at the right times.
I'm planning to sell it. I don't usually put much thought into that part
until much later.
3. "GreenTree: The Lost Prince" looks similar to Dink Smallwood. Almost if
it was Dink 2. Can you give us some hints what the game will be like?
Humorous RPG sort of like dink, mixes medieval constructs with current day
problems. A sequel in spirit, if not name.
4. When will you release "GreenTree: The Lost Prince"? And could you post
more screen shots on the dinknetwork? We are curious!
Sure, I'll post when I can, it will be a long while yet for that.
5. Some of the dinkers finds it kinda sad that you're done with Dink. Are
you done with Dink?
Never!
6. Have you played some of the D-Mods on the dinknetwork?
Sure. Well, I think the last one I played was a year ago.
7. It must be fun to make games, and get paid for it. Are you making good
money on the games that you've created? Do you recommend it to others?
I'm not getting rich off it at the moment, but sure, I recommend it to
anybody. For me, it isn't about the money, I just love doing it. I make a
lot more doing game programming contract work.
Yep, that's all
