...There... The so-called sequel D-Mods that I have listed do not depend on the story of their predecessors greatly, although I would recommend checking out FB1 & 2, and CC1. Pilgrim's Quest has a very unique feel that goes above and beyond what Simon did for Stone of Balance. Prophecy of the Ancients has been my favorite for a very long time, though not as outright unique as Pilgrim's Quest, it has a special taste- especially in the way of magic. I still think it is the best- but I would not expect you to like it at all- in all regards it is a special D-Mod, and I thought that the gameplay achieved an excellent balance throughout the game, with a few tricky puzzles, but no times in which I was completely stumped (this is a problem that I have had with Stone of Balance, Pilgrim's Quest, and Dinky Dimensions series, to name a few).

I considered adding Cycles of Evil to my list but refrained from doing so as it is really hard to compare it to other D-Mods. If you are looking for an enjoyable D-Mod, but do not feel like getting into one of the REALLY BIG ONES, then I recommend Cycles of Evil- it is neither difficult nor confusing, and is entertaining at the same time.
