okay, i just finished replaying this part... after dealing with the armed camp and going back to skard to tell her you need the plant from the bottom of the sea, you push her to the left. The screen that you eventually wind up on has a save machine and the water spirit appears. she gives you and skard the plant and you automatically eat it's petals. from here, you have to hijack a frog machine and go visit Cthunk and watch him get captured. after this you are able to go near machine mountain but find you are not able to get in. While you are in the frog you can go to the left hand part of machine mountain and find the opening where the river goes into the mountain and when you approach the barbed wire it says that you cant get in the way you are... which means you need a boat... after leaving this area and goin back to around where you first found skard, and getting out of the frog suit... you can talk to skard and she mentions that you need to go back to the water spirit because she may be able to help you... so from here you need to go back to the screen that you first encountered the waterspirit who gave you the plant to eat. this screen has a save machine with a small body of water to the left and a larger one to the right. If you talk to skard on this screen she will say that you need to go back to the spot where the water spirit first appeared... this means on the same screen go on the bottom of the screen to about the middle of the body of water on the right and then talk to skard... its kinda hard to get the exact spot so keep talking to skard as you walk along the bottom. The water spirit should appear, followed by her sister the wind spirit and you will get a boat and a nice dust storm around you... after that its on to the hole the river goes to in machine mountain that you spotted while you were a frog. good luck and i hope this helps
