I would have to disagree with it being a good thing.
I think that an author reviewing their own file is, in a sense, putting their opinion of how good a mod they can make forward. For example, if I give my d-mod, say, a 9.8, does that not mean I can only see myself making a 0.1 improvement in my next mod?
Surely, whilst others can review a d-mod from a unbiased and impartial viewpoint, you will always think your game is better than it really is.
You can't possibly criticise your own d-mod constuctively! You would never criticise the music, because YOU think it suits. You would always think your plot is great, because YOU know it in every detail. Someone who is playing it for the first time may not get it, because while you think you explained it well, you may not have done.
In short, I think reviewing your own files is a farce. Even though I've reviewed some of mine.
