I'd say that fighting many monsters is usually a bad idea. Fighting is fun, but not when it's screen after screen packed with monsters that you have to kill to be strong enough to survive later.
Perhaps a good way would be for if you kill nearly all monsters, the game starts easy and gets harder as the game goes on, with any secrets found boosting you enough to give you that extra edge in a fight. And maybe not just having potions and gold hearts as secrets, but special weapons etc.
Having to constantly level up is not fun, something that I found very frustrating with TCS.
And as for riddles, it's good to have a d-mod that makes you think every so often.
There haven't been many d-mod (not good ones anyway) recently, so I eagerly anticipate the release of this!
