Many old games don't age well because of their presentation and gameplay (everything is much faster now, for those with low attention span), and in Dink, you pretty much just have to wander around and figure stuff out yourself.

AOE 2 is a great game developed by Microsoft with a great, 0 effort learning tool for making scenarios, missions, campaigns... Dink on the other hand, is a half-assed indie game that got attention of a few talented people. How many dmods would be made if it weren't for WinDinkEdit+, sparrowhawk's file for notepad++ etc. I still remember when I made my first attempt to write a script in regular notepad. Brrr. I can only imagine (actually, I cant't) the amount of effort of the first guys here trying to make some modifications.
