I don't like Steam Workshop at all, what it does now is cause the dev to be lazy with implementing the mod support outside Steam and even tie the mod tools to it.
For example, Shadwen on GOG doesn't have any map editor because it is locked to Steam Workshop. Hotline Miami 2 also had that and it took 6 months to make the map editor available outsite SW.
