It has everything to do with Christianity. Yeah, it's not the exact day Christ was born, but there is a reason for that. When Christmas started in the Roman Empire, it was illegal to be a Christian, so they had to piggy back on a pagan holiday as to not arise suspicion. It has been turned into something to where it has lost it's main message, but it is still very much a Christian holiday.
