When you talk to the wizard, you need to ask for a spell. Then he says he'll teach you the MageFist for 1000 gold. If you don't have enough gold, then the purchase option won't show up. About the freezing bug, there shouldn't be any. I've tested it through so many times.

Can you link me the save file? I could check it out. Just zip the save file and upload it here.
