Totally missed this thread 'til now. A lot of interesting posts with different views from various users... good job. 
As for my personal view.. I think there's two sides of this coin. I don't mind changing to a new forum with more admin control, but I don't really think we need to go that far. We just need to ignore senseless spam and obvious trolls and enjoy ourselves more like we used to (even if that seems like an impossible thing to do in most of the cases, lately).
