: If you really want quality graphics you must first create a 3d image then take a bmp screen shot of it (or many screen shots of it if it is need from different angles or positions). I recommend povray, a 3d ray tracer, and moray, a visual 3d object creator/editor. The original dink smallwood graphics were made in 3d studio max but moray is as good for most things and if you really want to dive into it you can create great graphics.

: (In case you can't tell I have recently became very interested in 3d graphics, they kick arse!)
