Well, presences can be explained easily, you might have some Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) in certain rooms, but if not, then something is really weird.
You also could buy an Analog camcorder with an infrared attachment and a digital camera to take ictures and film the house. that way you can easily pick up any strange anomalies.
And last you could buy a digital recorder (or borrow one) and try to catch Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) of the ghost. That's what i'd do to prove that there is or is not a ghost. It'd also be fun!
