I'm trying to get the bonca meat, and I'm supposed to cover myself in mud (per the walkthrough).

But I have no mud from the end of Story 2. What gives?

Hmmm, I thought you had to accept the mud at the end of story 2... have to check the files again...

EDIT: Ah... there is a way you can end this story without the mud, opps - if your back-pack is full - you get to the end of the story and teleported out of Story 2...

That might have been what happened to me.

But how on earth do I continue in the game if I can't cover myself in mud since I have none?
