Spell Selection Bug
OK, not ive got another bug that I have so far failed to remove from my DMOD. When I select a spell for Dink to use, the DMOD crashes! I can find no error in the spell scripts, and indeed one of them is currently the same as the main Dink game script, ie item-fb.c. How can I fix this without having to start my DMOD again? Have I done something to my .ini file? Im looking, but it seems i have not...can anyone help me here?
Try copying the globals from original Dink's main.c to your main.c again... Doing this has fixed a few weird bugs I haven't managed to figure out. Do NOT delete your dmod, there's nearly always another way to fix things.
Ok, ive reinstalled the Dink game, and have done as you say Stratcher, now it no longer crashes as soon as you select it, it crashes a few seconds later...what do I do now?
I really dont know what is causing this bug...
YES!! Ive tracked it down...it turns out that I had accidenlty deleted STAT-04 from my graphics folder, as I am using alternate graphics for the Stat bar, and of course if the engine doesnt find STAT-04 it will stumble...should of thought to check that earlier, but i dont see how it got deleted... but it had been.
Oh well, problem solved, thanks stratcher, as you say, there is usually another solution.
AND editing the item-fb causes problems anyway, it seems the sp_strength values and spell cost values, for this are hard-wired into the engine or something, as I at least get problems when I edit it, unlike if I edit say the Hellfire/item-sfb scripts values.
