How to get to Hashut?

Crowns of Stone

I'm stuck trying to get to Hashut. I have got all the 3 tools and I am wandering around but still can't get a lock on him. Is there a specific location where I can go to? Thanks.

Who was the last crowned head that Dink saw in an Amurium Vertex vision?

It was that queen from Pilgrim's Quest. It was the only time I saw Hashut did something to her

If the most recent Amurium Vertext vision Dink has seen is that of the "Ice Queen" from Pilgrim's Quest and you have already "got all the 3 tools" then I'd have to say that it seems to me that you must have been using a Cheat Tool of sorts (perhaps the Ultimate Cheat?) to move around to the various places in the game. Or perhaps you used a saved game from an earlier version of "Crowns of Stone" that did not really work properly with a later version of the game?

The way the Amurium Vertex works is that as Dink goes about his adventures, he passes certain places where (assuming he has the Amurium Vertex in his magic backpack) he gets to see a vision of Hashut getting the best of one of the crowned heads of state in the general vicinity of the Kingdom of GoodHeart. As he passes those places, a counter increments, causing him to see a different scene where a king or queen is turned to stone, until the counter reaches it's limit, at which point Dink can use the Amurium Vertex to go after Hashut. If you don't move Dink past those places, then Dink does not get to see the visions.

The counter starts at zero and must reach 5 before Dink can use a target lock to get to Hashut. So, I put 5 places into the game that Dink MUST pass by (assuming that the player is not cheating to hop about from screen to screen) that triggered the visions. Then, I added 7 more optional places that Dink COULD pass by, so that those who somehow missed some of the places I assumed you could not miss, would still have a chance to obtain a target lock on Hashut.

If you want to, we can continue this conversation in the private message area of the Dink Network Forum, where I will list ALL of the "Amurium Vertext Vision places" that I assumed Dink would have no choice but to pass and ALL of the optional "Amurium Vertext Vision places" he could also pass.

But, if I am right about you using a cheat tool to "hop around" the dmod map, you'd probably enjoy the game a lot more if you went back to the place where you started cheating and just "played through". There are probably lots of fun things that you missed!

Anyway, let me know if you want that list of "Amurium Vertext Vision places".

Good Luck with the game!

Thanks for the reply. However I am not using any cheating tool of any sort (was there any to begin with?). But I am using Dink HD programme to play. Is this causing the bug?

This is what I did. There are certain instances that after showing a picture of something, then when it goes back to the game, the whole game 'freezes'. In the sense that Dink cannot move so I always have to reload a previously saved game. This happens when I view the wagic weapons from Karl as well as when I am entering Shimmer's cave. This happens all the time so I cannot progress.

To 'circumvent' this, I copied & pasted the save game file to the normal Dink programme to play & it worked. I then saved the game at the next save point before I copy & paste back to the Dink HD programme to resume normal play (my bad habit is I often love to use the quick save & quick load feature). Thus I am wondering if this is the bug that is causing the game not to work properly? Is my save game file deemed corrupted now?

You are welcome. Thanks for playing my dmod.

Maybe so, I am unable to test using that version of the Dink Engine and I know that is a frequent cause of many problems with dmods that were not tested on it, and even some that were tested on it.

This is what I did. There are certain instances that after showing a picture of something, then when it goes back to the game, the whole game 'freezes'.

Wow, that is such a simple piece of code, I am really surprised that this is causing you problems. Is it the case that you are you unable to "(Press <Space> after viewing the image.)" or that when you do press the space bar, nothing happens?

In the sense that Dink cannot move so I always have to reload a previously saved game. This happens when I view the wagic weapons from Karl as well as when I am entering Shimmer's cave. This happens all the time so I cannot progress.

Sure, the game shows up to 10 pictures for various reasons, so of course if this is a problem for you, it would certainly interfere with the game's progress. *MAYBE* if you tell me more about this problem with the display of pictures, I MIGHT be able to make a code change that would enable this feature to work under the version of the Dink Engine you are using.

To 'circumvent' this, I copied & pasted the save game file to the normal Dink programme to play & it worked. I then saved the game at the next save point before I copy & paste back to the Dink HD programme to resume normal play (my bad habit is I often love to use the quick save & quick load feature). I am amazed that more things did not work. You are lucky that
some other things worked at all. Without question, this is the main cause of your inability to get to Hashut, and it would have also prevented some other fun things from happening.

I placed a warning about different versions of the Dink Engine not working with my dmod, when I wrote "#2 According to Robj's Version Checker I have tested this dmod under "GNU FreeDink for Linux 109.6" AND "Dink Smallwood (for Windoze) 1.08 Vanilla" using WINE 3.0.4 on Ubuntu 16.04. Any other versions of the Dink Engine may not be able to run this dmod normally." in the description that comes up when you use DFarc to choose which of your downloaded dmods you might want to play.

Is my save game file deemed corrupted now?

Yes. I'd say your choices are to restart the game under a more compatible version of the Dink Engine (such as freedink 1.08 or 1.09) or to just recognize that you may never reach Hashut using the "the save game file to the normal Dink programme". You might want to start a new thread in the forum about the best most compatible version of the Dink Engine to use (or search for an older thread on this topic).

Just to update you, I tried to copy & paste my save game file to the normal Dink engine to play but so far it doesn't work.

Luckily I still have a saved file after completing Shimmer's quest so I used that file to play on the normal Dink engine & it worked! I could now see the visions of Hashut taking down the kings & queens (although I only saw total 4 of them before Amurium Vertex got a lock on Hashut) after passing certain locations.

So I think it is safe to say that this game definitely doesn't work on the Dink HD engine.

Right, as I mentioned above, I would not expect that to really work.

Good! I'm pleased to know that you are enjoying the game now.

Okay, that is normal.

So I think it is safe to say that this game definitely doesn't work on the Dink HD engine.

I'm not surprised, but I am a bit disappointed. I am not even able to run the HD dink engine at all, so I cannot test my dmods there.
