we all know that good music can break or make D-Mods but lets face it finding the right music can be a hell. and even with all the great D-Mods out there it sometimes is hard to find the music for your D-Mods even if you "borrow" music from them.
listening them is enjoyable and fitting them just right is also good. but here are so many duplicate files and sometimes badly rendered music that the enjoyment can be sucked out of your system rather quickly. especially if you want to add fresh to D-Mods music so i thought of it as a idea for a topic where you can share your sites for the new music or even the tools you use to make them.

i know of 2 sources. 1 is The dink network(hey with all those good music having D-Mods chances are you'll find the one your looking for)

and the second is VgMusic.com. this site i use the most because i try to keep the "Borrowing" at a minimum. however many of the midis have the annoying recording beep in it or are poorly rendered. but other then that i recommend you looking there as it has a lot of kick ass midi's.

I much prefer Google over a definite Midi source
Except for my Computer Harddrive; That in itself is a fair Midi source now.

The guy with the cute D-Mod.
Mmm, definitely, ExDeath.

Also, merder, there are a few talented musicians around the place who I'm sure wouldn't mind a few extra music projects for fellow Dinkers like yourself.

Yeah, like me.
Maybe I should just release a MIDI-exclusive music pack... I mean, I did release a pack of free OGG music before, why not also a MIDI pack?

I'd never recommend vgmusic.com as a resource for music in your own games or Dmods. I mean, the songs are fun to listen to and collect, but people keep using badly rendered versions of well-known game songs and that is just annoying.

I'm not saying vgmusic.com consists only of badly rendered versions of video game music, by the way.

OK thanks. well currently i'm more busy with a small project then my 2 big ones(the Great Goblin war and scrolls of the ancients: Hatred's hold(even though Hatred's hold is on a hold until i know more of scripting. but i still occasionally tinker with it until i put it as the main D-Mod i build again)).

And the music i currently need is a music with the invaders feel but not spacy(as in outer space). I know that might be hard but if anyone could make or find one i'd definitely add you to the credits.

In memory of Skull.
I think I'd rather hack Exdeath's computer and shop there.

there are only 2 problems on my side for that.
1: i don't have that much of hacking skills
2: You actually made him aware of the possibility!!

Rather than hack MY computer, Evil Early, you'd more likely end up hacking Happy Sunshine Land clones if you tried

So where else can we get good midis from for the dmods?

LOOK UPON MY DEFORMED FACE!
Most people steal from other dmods which is okay seeing as most people get theirs from vgmusic without any sort of acknowledgement of the poor arse who notated it.

DD's Doctor Who page has the theme from Doctor Who which would be useful for a Doctor Who game...

DaVince has a whole bunch of tracker modules on his page which are quite usable in a game...

I have been using ModArchive.org, also Amiga music preservation. There's some excellent stuff there.

The music from most existing mods and those "midi packs" have been reused and beaten to death. Try not to use them. Imitation is the sincerest form of suicide.

Can you play wav files in a dmod??? Or do they have to be converted and if so whats good to convert with?

Edit: ok ignore that ^ I obviously haven't been paying attention

Thanks for noticing my site, yeoldetoast. Though they're useful only when you use Dink Aural+ or FreeDink (both of which support Ogg Vorbis, and FreeDink even supports the music modules as they are).

MIDI pack from me coming... sometime in the future.
