I thought about it, but there hasn't really been many problems with people 'stealing' other people's icons. There are like 1600 or so combinations, probably more because I think that was the number from December 2001.
There must be 10 different users with the same headless duck with grass profile icon.
That is sort of intentional. That way you can easily spot new users, as that is the default icon.
