Dink3D
I was just wondering. Does anyone know what it would take
to make Dink Smallwood go to 3D, like an FPS style view.
Do you think that the dink community could put together
some type of 3D Dink engine if there is enough c++
programmers to pull it off. Could be like a cool
addon, but it really is a lot of dreaming.

How about TPP style, instead? I could see Dink's face and how he looks like in 3D.
I don't want to be mean, but... keep dreaming.
*Insert insultive, humorous response about Dreaming and... yeah*
There are lots of 3D programs out there. We would just need some artist, who could make Dink. Like Seth, or SimonK.
yeah, a bit of more of a developers view of things - how old dink is, what his voice sounds like, the original design for port town etc. its obvious that the dink game was never fully completed. like with ultima ix, there are to many loose ends
but hey, with programs like blender available, you pull of just about anything, be ye patient enough.

On the topic of blender, check out these two ten minute length (or around that) movies made with Blender. They're absolutely stunning.
Short anwser: no.
Long answer: noooooooo alright that stopped being funny a while ago.
The engine of Dink isn't very well suited to make a 3D game. It might not be entirely impossible, as you COULD emulate a 3D environment, but it would take lots of effort for probably a very bad looking game.
In other words, yes, you could -with a LOT of work- make a quasi 3D game with Dink, but it wouldn't be worth the trouble.

true that, but you could use somethin like- hmmm- DarkBASIC.
I know what we can do! We can make a whole bunch of Dink skins and invade lots of other video games with a whole bunch of Dink MODs and we can take over the Internet as we know it!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!
Dinkdude95, that has to be the most ridiculous idea I've heard from you yet. I like!
I could picture Dink in games like Diablo 1 or 2, or in the original Dungeon siege assuming he gets re-created to fit those games more.

Ooh! You could make a mod out of that, ensuring you have a map editor and monster editor. You could make Dink into 3D! FOR REAL!!

It's not the amount of C++ programmers that's important, it's a matter of who feels like it, is good enough at any 3D supporting programming language and is up to the task.
DD95: ummm, what about 3D models of Dink-related stuff, in a pretty standard format? I know that it'd be easy to add Dink-related stuff into games like Duke Nukem (well, EDuke32) that way...
How about making a Dink Smallwood by using a Doom Engine....It's almost like a DinkC.
How about we use the new ID Tech 5 doom engine (for doom 4).
Or we could settle for ID Tech 4 (used in doom 3).
Or we could settle for ID Tech 4 (used in doom 3).
I'll tell you one thing; I'm going to try and get in touch with Dungeon Siege modders and make an armor set that causes your character to look like Dink Smallwood. As for the head, I can probably find one of the Skin editors and build Dink that way. It all depends on several variables towards the situation and my idea versus probability and possibility of me actually getting started or even finishing it. But creating a 3d dink is too good of a chance to pass up.
you could use the NWN1 or 2 editor, but you'd probably be customizing a lot o' graphix. ma-a-a-n, imagine the darklands re-done in doom engine (gotta give dink a crossbow & blunderbuss for dat) would be awsomeness reloaded!
Dink Smallwood 3D?Hmmm....dinkedit will do

Dink is a 3D game of sorts, as there are depth dots.
Alright, just kidding.
Alright, just kidding.
