Me and Grampybone gonna take a little nap.
so i just found out today that a friend of mine is dead. she died in her bathtub of unknown causes. was like maybe 45 or so. they cant figure out what happened. no drugs or alcohol or anything apparently fairly healthy. her husband (my old doctor) just came home and found her. i am wondering if this happens often. should i avoid tubs? anyone ever heard of this happening? just curious and a little shocked. and no it was not a brain anourism (sp?) that was my first thought.

Daniel, there are clowns.
All I know is that if you avoid tubs long enough, people start avoiding you.

Well I don't know much about tub hazards, but dear, let me just say, my deepest condolences to your friend! That sounds absolutely terrible! To know that you've known a person for so long, and then to walk into a room to see that same person dead...it's all too much to bear on one's shoulders! I would know, since my Great-Aunt, one of the closest figures in my life, passed-away in a car accident; after being so close to her for 13 years, she was gone, just like that with a fingersnap.

Perhaps she passed away of old-age or an old-age-related illness? I have in fact heard of a couple of stories where a person passed away in a tub, but I don't have enough evidence to draw a conclusion that it's because of one thing. In fact, I vaguely remember these stories. I do remember one detail, though: that they involved very different situations.

yeah i gotta say i am still kinda shocked. i had not seen her in a while and now she is gone. and i dont think it was old age. the only thing that might have been a bit odd is, my moms theory that she had one too many nips or tucks. she was a RN for a plastic surgeon so she got her work done cheap. was always getting stuff done according to ma. maybe there was some kind of after affect. but then would we not be having aging movie stars dropping like flies? i dunno.
striker- i did think about not using the tub but at 6'6" its been a long time since i actually fit in one. mostly we just crouch under the shower head.

Sorry to hear about your friend

Can't say I've heard of anything particularly dangerous about bathtubs, apart from the fact that it's harder to drown in a shower. Maybe I should stop taking baths...

"Maybe I should stop taking baths."

Well, Sparrowhawk my dear, even though I'm currently upset with him, I'm glad to re-quote a wise statment of a young fella from here, "if you avoid tubs long enough, people start avoiding you."

Unless you enjoy that kind of attention (or shall I say, non-attention). LOL!

Love! True love!
Sorry about your friend.

I do know, however, that it is not uncommon for people to slip and fall and break their neck or something. Also, some people relax a bit to much in a bath, and fall asleep, but if you do turn over you would wake up before anything drastic could happen, but if you choose to lay their still even when you're awake their is still a good chance that either:

A) You will still drown
B) You're an idiot
C) All of the above

She died of an unknown cause, not because she drowned? Slipping and/or drowning are propably the most common causes, the classic hairdryer in the water seems to pop up in the news every now and then also. People sometimes die in sauna and in cold water, perhaps it was the sudden change of temperature that caused the death?

yeah maybe its cause of the temperature change. i braved the shower today and am still here. ready to kill a few ducks if need be. i would ask her husband for more details but how do you ask a guy stuff like that when his wife has just died.

I bet the husband killed her because he found her first.

^^People who murder someone or people of their own family NEVER get away with it, no mtter how witty. I've seen so many stories of these happening, each time a clever hide-up that last for time, even for as long as ten or twenty years. In the end, however, they always get caught. That's just how powerful our current forensic science is. *thumbs up*
