Vista doesn't support tertiary command procedures, i.e. dink.exe -pq.
SO no Vista if you still wanna play dmods.
Please note:Use this thread for all bad mouthing of microsoft/Vista (yes with lowercase m)

Let me heat that up for you...
mICROSOFT products have a way of always making you choose them. like a little boy who was just caught stealing a cookie from the cookie jar, and all of a sudden is a little angel. i was using IE (yeah, i know, it STINKS!) and it was so slow. i then went to the website of another browser and tried to download a mozilla-based browser called 'flock'. all of a sudden, IE went real fast and loaded pages without a worry. is it coincidence? or has mICROSOFT put in some intelligence in their programs that enables them to tell when you have had enough and are ditching them? or was it trying to ditch itself, giving me fast speeds so i can get the new browser? mystery un-known

Windows Vista prolly isn't that bad. But I stick with Windows XP for now.

Coincidence. Sounds a bit ridiculous to me, making up conspiracy theories about dodgy code in IE.

Blackguard: Why a capital V for Vista?

Unfortunately, vista Premium is what came with my new system. But I have solved some of the dink issues I was having, by changing the compatibility mode and running all dink items under windows 2000. Seems to work great now.

Only if it has enough memory, and doesn't burn up the core processors...

OpenBSD lends itself better to this kind of portability anyway (really!).

My major concern with Microsoft is their monopolistic hold of the computer market. If the market was free (as it's supposed to be...) then the better products would win. And trust me, it wouldn't be Microsoft's for most cases.

I think Good Ol Boy Bill cut a deal with the Federal Flubberment on that issue a few years back when they tried to nail him. Hence the backdoor security leaks, and imbedded key logger firmware that keeps popping up in machines. I firmly believe he cut a deal to allow the "powers that be," a backdoor way to monitor the masses.

Just my opinion, FWIW.
