How many of you all here have played and liked Half Life 2? I just wanted to ask as I really liked the game.

I have played through about two or three hours of it. It seems quite entertaining thus far, though slightly less "omigodthisisawesome"-like than Half-Life 1. I appreciated the lack of an aggravatingly long unskippable tram introduction though.

Someone told me that its as good as HL1 especially in the sense that it has the best story ever told in an action game and is often more immersive than any RPG.

I'd get it, but my PC wouldnt even manage to run it.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I have seen many people who like HL 1 more than HL2. Don't know the reason.
It is full of action and even the graphics are a hell lot better.

Yes these recent games do need a lot of system power. I am not able to play smoothly in higher resolutions like 1024*768 with my GeForce 5200 .

Any fool can use a computer. Many do.
It's not always the action or the graphics, they don't necessarily make the game more fun. Even old games where you could count the pixels can be more fun than some games today

Simeon is right...I'm sure everyone would agree.

It comes down to game design and actual gameplay. Dink Smallwood had a unique concept and it was well impelemented even if the graphics or music werent up to par. Thats what makes it so memorable.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Back in my day, we used to watch a blank screen, and we liked it!

Yes I agree with you Simeon that finally it is the fun that really counts.
But I like these new realistic graphics that these new games have.

Realistic graphics are fine and all, but I expect that they are going to stabalize for a while, and when when they do improve, it will be by a rather large jump.

I object
Isn't that simply because it's newer? I mean pong was revolutionary.

The quality of something isn't something objective and stand alone, it's subjective and relative to other things created in the same time.
