Any Good Web Hosting Places?
I thought I had found a perfect match for a Dink Network file mirror... $95.40 for a year, 350MB of storage, 45 GB of transfer... but it turns out they're not so reputable.
First of all, the File Mirror would be a companion web site to The Dink Network, and just host files. It would have its own web design and such, but would only keep track of the file size/date/times downloaded.
So does anyone know of any good, preferably inexpensive, web hosts? I've been looking around, and while I have a few leads, none fit our needs.
So what are our needs? At least 300 MB of storage, preferrably around 500 MB. With 300 MB we can fit most D-Mods on the server, with 500 MB we should be able to put everything on it and be pretty well set for Simon's next D-Mod, which political analysts and weather forcasters expect to range in around 100 MB, and cause heavy rain.
I'm not sure how many GB/month we need... I'm guessing 20-30. Pilgrim's Quest alone has transferred 10 GB in a week, but it is huge and popular... I can't guess what the overall usage would be.
So if you know of any sites that match those criteria, please let me know. Thanks.

I would suggest linuxworks, but it's ew zealand based, and all you americans etc. would have to put up with the slow speeds across the southern cross cable...
have a look at the python site, at the "python friendly web hosts", there is a list of commercial ones there...

I found a site (http://www.featureprice.com/) you may want to check out. They offer several plans, but the one I thought was most appealing for our community was their Budget Plan (http://www.featureprice.com/?c=2&p=7). It offers 1,000 Mb (1 Gb) of storage (twice what you asked for) and I saw nothing about bandwidth limits. It is $9.95/month ($119.40/yr.) Hope that helps!

Wow, this one has style.. with this solution you wouldn't need gamespy/rpgplanet anymore.

Yeah... I found FeaturePrice while browsing around last night, and it was one of the better possibilities. The only part I didn't like is they throttle you to 15 GB a month...
My original plan was to go through Global Internet Solutions ( http://www.gisol.com/ ) but they have some spotty feedback on a couple sites... but it is hard to tell what is real and what isn't.
