$2.50 here...but most people in my city get a free tank once a week...

We have a big Chevron Refinery here and most people either work for it or Ingalls(a battleship yard) Chevron gives its workers one free tank of gas a week... I have to pay though, but the low demand for gas for some reason leaves our gas prices lower than surrounding cities... I really dont know how all that works out but oh well ^_^

$2.50 or so here, and the war on Iraq isn't the only factor that's causing gas prices to rise.

1 gallon = 3.79 liters

It ain't that expensive really, people just always complain about everything. You get your gass cheaper than us finns btw, it's over 1€ per liter here.

It hasn't been less then €1 per liter in the last... eh... I don't know... A long time. (Here in the Netherlands atleast)

Probably It has never been lower because prices lower than €1 per liter are only found back when we hadn't got the euro so...

Even diesel is more than €1 per liter at the local gasstations around here.

well, here in sweden it is about thirteen crowns per liter, that means £1, per liter...

*edit* is that cheap or expensive?
August 21st 2005, 09:00 AM

That's nearly 1.4 euros so it's pretty expensive.

$1.02/litre.And 40% of that is taxes, so the
government is actually raking it in.Hopefully,
they'll lower taxes on gas and give us a break.

This is coming from someone who doesn't drive, but the high gas prices (in America at least) could perhaps be a blessing in disguise. There'll a much larger demand for fuel efficient vehicles. This means that the car companies are much more likely to start making very efficient cars instead of the big gas-chugging behemoths.

Would you rather pay for gas or buy a new $35,000 car?

Or you could be smart and buy a diesal engine, find someone who knows a little bit about engines, and they will be able to convert your engine to run off of Corn oil. Costs $5000 to make the conversion but once it is through you have free fuel. Most fast food places usually pay people to take away their old oil once they use it. They will usually give you 2 12 gallon barrels of it for free (they wont pay you though). So yeah...

Are you sure that old oil isn't destroying your engine?

And I believed it was salad oil they ran on...

There are many alternatives to gas cars can run on. But why ponder about that when there are only two things you need cars for:

1. Long trips
2. Women

In reversed order, if you think about it.

Thank God I still dont work at Wal-Mart and be forced to drive an two hours a day to get there and back.

My current job is only a half hour away.

Seriously if this isnt gonna make my countrymen start getting more environmentally conscious I dont know what will.

Sincerely,

You can also convert your car so it could run on some sort of fluided gas.But using gas makes your engine a little wineing she dog.

I mean in the long run. I'm not saying it isn't miserable for anyone who drives. Nobody will look for alternatives to gas when prices are cheap. That's a fudgeing fact.

Diesel engines can run on corn oil without any conversion afaik.

Might be able to run off it but it will destroy your engine if you dont get the convertor

My dad tried to explain to me how a canadian gallon is actually different from an american gallon and how with the canadian dollar being worth less, we're paying much more than most
people realize.Of course, it was all lost on me.
*zip* Right over my head!

Anyhow, September 1st is 'Don't Buy Gas' day.
Pass it on!
