For some reason when I try to run the editor, on XP, the screen goes black and dumps me back to the desktop?

Any Ideas?

Either way should work but compactibility mode saves you the download

Yes, this is about the 4-5th time.

Well in my experience he would be best to try both, or even better yet to try WinDinkedit

Whether you use DinkEdit or WinDinkEdit is a matter of taste, though in my experience DinkEdit is better.

Compatibility mode is the way to go really, unless you have other problems as well. There's not much difference between v1.06 and v1.07 and the patch seems to be a little buggy. (beta 3, wasn't it?)

To change the compatibility mode right-click DinkFrontEnd.exe, choose compatibility and check the box that says "run this program in compatibility mode for:"

Maybe you made you're dmod file wrong?

This happened to me I just downloaded the patch and it worked fine after that.
Also i just started making dmods and have no idea of what im doing can someone help me.

I would advise downloading some of the higher rated tutorials from the development section. DinkC Reference is an excellent tool, for example.
Chaotic : Never mind. Don't worry yourself, it wasn't important anyway.

I also had problem in running dinkedit on win XP. Go to dink smallwoods page at rtsoft and download the patch from there or you may consider downloading winDinkEdit, its very useful
