Pretty stupid little problem

Well, here goes. I run windows 200 professional. I've updated to Dink Smallwood version 1.07 and somehow my Dinkedit.exe never works. Pretty stupid since I remember this as a cool game and I downloaded it again to do some editing. When I doubleclick dinkedit.exe, I get the titlescreen (when I'm lucky) for a few seconds and than my computer just exits the program. Any suggestions on what to do? I really wanna have a look at that source.

Thanks beforehand.

I remember encountering the same problem... You could try messing with the compatibility settings under properties or reinstalling Dink. Or messing with your screen settings. Also try to run Dink Smallwood the game and then go to the editor again. Or try to go there by opening the dink frontend, unchecking the "run with the following dmod" box and pressing edit.

Allright, thanks for the hints, Scratcher. Alltough I doubt reinstalling would do any good. I'll try your suggestions and I'll update you on this problem tomorrow. But for now, I have some more important work to finnish here on my computer.

Install Dink 1.07. There's an updated BMP file in there you need for Windows NT.

Sorry GlennGlenn, but in my very humble opinion, Windows XP is like a glass of Guiness between a line-up of the most noble of all Belgian and Danish beers. Just to show that I don't like it. I'd rather revert back to windows 98.

Uhm, rather strange reply. I think I've mentioned I updated to 1.07 or are you suggesting I install the full 1.07 version (if it is available somewhere)? and who ever mentioned windows NT? Or should it work all the same on windows 2000 that way since it uses NT technology?

Oh, my..

In my not-so-humble opinion, among all operating systems, everything else is a fine glass of wine while Windows ME is a jar of horse piss.

Windows XP is crap, but I switched from 95 to XP, so I prefer it to 98. XP Professional is better than home, though.

And to think I got a warning message on XP claiming that entering my main hard drive and modifying the files could harm the computer!
Pathetic OS, I do what I want to the Windows folder!

Um, have you clicked on the little text blurb that says something like "Ignore this and browse anyway"? If you do it never comes back.

Yes, I did that the first time I saw the message, but what bugs me is the fact that it showed up in the first place.

Windows XP assumes that you aren't experienced with it, so its telling you to get away from the files if you don't know what your doing.

Just be thankful its not Windows RG

Ah, yes, Windows RG. I've seen that somewhere before, but I think it was on a different website.
