The Unreal Tournament 2004 demo is far, far, far too much fun. I just had to uninstall it, for the second time.

You know, I might just have to get that game. It's been a long time since I've played a UT-type game and that one sounds particularly appealing. I'll have to get the demo... once I get back to my desktop

UT2k4 is MUCH better than 2k3! I loved the original UT, despised 2003 and I'm falling in love with 2004 again. Only thing that's changed for me is that I know enjoy normal play instead of instagib.

Very very true Much of my time goes to this game and yeah, when the full version comes out - it'll certainly find a place on my HD

And the new Onslaught mode owns!

ok. UT stands for unreal tournament, but what does the k stand for? and wtf is 2k3 or instagib?

Stop using abreviations.

2K4 = 2004

wtf is instagib?

Well, when you shoot someone with Instagib (with a variant of the Shock Rifle), it instantly gibs (hence the name) that person, meaning that he's dead with a single shot. Just in case, gibs is what splatters out of the enemy's body when you kill him.

Ok, so I reinstalled this demo from Valhalla.

I think I might be good at it.

But only one hour a day now, I promise.

I can get in more kills in that period of time, but I don't play Onslaught online so it may have a slower kill/minute pace. For the record, I only play CTF (that's capture the flag for the abbreviation haters).
Seems you're pretty good at it though, but one can't tell by looking at one screenshot
We should spar sometime

The onslaught score isn't based solely on kills, but rather capturing and destroying power nodes and such. Yeah, I did kill a few people, but I also did a hell of a lot of work to get some nodes.

Yeah I figured the mode had a say in it. But then again, the score in CTF is also raised if you bring back the flag, kill the flagcarrier, etc...

Yeah, you get 5 for destroying an enemy's node, 5 for building a new node and 10 for doing the final damage to the enemy's core.

I've played it (Onslaught) for many hours and I got the hang of it quite easily, after a while it's relatively easy to get a nice score, by taking nodes and road killing people (Manta skillz ). I personally think a good way to see if you're playing well is to notice if you walk a lot during an Onslaught match. If you walk too much (or not enough, camping), you won't get that much done (like the AVRiL people, the Raptor campers, I'm sure you've seen them on-line). Vehicles are very important.

I'm just using Simeon as my name by the way, in case anyone happens to find a server where a certain Simeon is taking some nodes/killing some people

I use Ragura as my handle, but you probably won't find me playing an onslaught game. Too much headphone talking, I hate that.

I read something about Halo? well Bungie is kinda getting on my nerves...If you are waiting for Halo 2 and your hear a release date DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH. So far there has been five date bumps that I am aware of. 8/-/2003, then 12/-/2003, then 2/15/2004, then 4/1/2004, and now they say it will be realesed sometime in the fall! My opinion on what is going on is halo was such a great game that they decided to make a sequel. People mainly wanted it because they heard it would be X-BOX live compatable. Soon after that announcment they released Halo for the PC. That obviously had online play. As more people became impatient for Halo 2, they then bought Halo for the PC. I believe they are just delaying it to make money because as soon as Halo 2 comes out all the people will buy that as well. *just a hunch but I believe a good one* lemme know what you think.

Halo's "greatness" is arguable.. I think the game would've been above average at best if not for the inclusion of vehicles. The single-player campaign's levels were particularly mediocre; the multiplayer is really where it's at for Halo.

I do intend to buy Halo at some point, as it's certainly plenty of fun. UT2004 sounds better, though, so I've ordered that.

No way! The multi-player aspect (deathmatch and all that jazz) is poor, unless you have at least 2 X-Boxes... which isn't very likely. Where Halo kicks the ass off every other game is in it's co-operative mode. Now that rocks!

I dare say you made a slip-up! The cooperative mode is more fun than going it alone, but it's still lacking thanks to the bland levels. As for multiplayer, I've had my fill of fun 4-player matches, especially with Scorpions on Blood Gulch, and it gets even better when you can play a bunch of maniacs on the PC version..

Sorry, we will have to agree to disagree here. The co-operative mode in "Halo" is fantastic, producing the sort of camaraderie I haven't felt since the almighty "Streets of Rage". Mind you, Arik felt my camaraderie too... usually with a fist to the back of the head (or in the case of SOR, a lead pipe/baseball bat/glass bottle). Hehehe.

I certainly wouldn't call the levels bland, though the indoor sections do get pretty samey.
The game is fantastic though, and I have vivid memories of my first go on it. I was racing along in the Warthog, with Arik in the gunner seat...
Sabre : "Hey, I wonder what's going down over here?"
Arik : "What the hell are you doing!?!"
Sabre : "What?"
Arik : "You're driving us off a cliff!!"
Sabre : "A bit late to be mentioning that now..."
KATHUNK!

Sabre : "...that was your fault."

Some of the levels in Halo are a little samey. Which isn't to say that they aren't any good, just that by the third section of the Library or the second covenant ship you're beginning to get a little tired of running down the same corridor for the 122nd time. On the other hand, the enemy and weapon designs are completely superb, allowing for some real tactical play.

Sabre always drives the warthog. He's scary.
"What are you doing!?!"
"No, don't go over that ramp, you'll flip us and there are a million shieldfellows hiding behind it!"
"THAT'S THE OCEAN YOU'RE DRIVING US INTO!"

As I always explained, that was the idea. Covenant go squishy, hehe.
