Freedinkedit Hardness Crash Bug
GNU FreeDink
There's some kind of horrible bug in the 109.6 version of Freedinkedit that crashes it when editing hardness. Or hell, just hold down space for a while to display the hardness and it crashes. Not present in the 108.4 version.
Since it's been out for like 666 years and no one seems to have brought it up, I'm assuming this means I'm LITERALLY the only person that still uses dinkedit.

DroneDinkEdit is the shiznit, y'all.
Take that, put it in a pipe, smoke it. Congratulations, you've just transcended space and time entered map.dat itself, you control all by simply thinking about it, and the Goodheartians are jealous of your new found powers.

It may be the bug mentioned in this thread in which case there's nothing you can do, except wait. Otherwise, it might be something to do with OpenGL. If it runs fine with the -S cmdline flag (must be capital) then it's something deep in the graphics card drivers.

Well whaddya know, that fixed it. Thanks!
Also the beta version RW posted in that thread plays nice with both DE and WDE, which is neat. It doesn't look like he ever got around to uploading it on the DN. Even drone's newer WDE still has that problem where it junks Dinkedit hard.dats (unless I was accidentally using some ancient version of Windinkedit, which is certainly possible, but I don't think so).

I *think* this should be fixed in the currently pending V2.5.15.0...
I actually fixed it just a week or two ago but I was waiting to see if there was anything else to do before uploading the new version...

So it is.
that's some serendipitous timing
So it is.

Also Scratcher would you ever consider re-uploading that video involving making a map screen in dinkedit? It provides a rare example of the Zen of (Free)DinkEdit that is unfortunately becoming a lost art.
Unless youtube deleted it, it should still be there.
I think I just posted it as an unlisted video. The thread was probably called something like "scratcher builds a map screen!"
I always wanted to do a comparison video about the strengths of both editors, but I suck too much at Windinkedit to give it a fair shake. Maybe I'll finally get good at both editors, since I started dmodding again (after a 10+ year break, apparently?! doesn't feel like it should be that long...)

Unfortunately, it informs me it is a private video now and thus unviewable.
