DinkKiller, after a 5 year hiatus, has released Shadows of Death v0.3.0. In his own words:

Surprise!

I've been sitting on this update for the better part of a year now. I never pushed it out because there were still more things that needed to be done, and I lost interest in working on it (as usual). I finally took the time to go in and fix up everything else that needed fixing, found new bugs to squish, and made more small changes. I know I've missed some things but I'm really happy with all the work I put into this update to make the D-Mod as good and as polished as it should have been in 2015.

No, the D-Mod still isn't finished nor are there any new playable areas, but I made extensive changes to every single aspect of the D-Mod that almost makes it an entirely new experience, though it will still be familiar to anyone who has played the initial release.

Well, there you have it. See you again in 5 years, Mr. Killer!

You know, one thing that gif screenshot highlights is that I really should have tried going back to make that cutscene much less janky. Oh well.

Hope everyone enjoys the update!

Also, @Skurn, this did add more game. There are several brand new side quests for you to find and enjoy

If you are going to make any more fixes you may want to make this fix (change 499 to 399) in trader01.c (at line 115 I think) so that Dink does not have to try to guess why he cannot buy a sword at the advertised price.

Hope everyone enjoys the update!

I'm enjoying it so far.

Oh good!

That's a bug that I would have completely overlooked because I assumed it would be almost impossible for the player to earn enough gold to buy a sword before they get one for free just by progressing far enough through the main story. I'll fix that but I won't be uploading another update unless I have a more substantial number of bugs to fix or I do more actual work on the D-mod. Whichever comes first.

I can't tell what parts are unfinished and what parts are parts I just have not resolved yet. Can you release some kind of walk through or some text explaining what is done and what is not?

The game is fully finished and playable up until you hit the desert area, with the exception of an optional dungeon puzzle I never made and an additional mini side-quest I never managed to fix and instead was just completely removed. Once you make it into the desert area, there is one fully playable side quest you can complete and you can explore that initial open area but there isn't much else to do there for now. The north bridge that leads into the first major desert town is blocked off because everything beyond that point is unfinished.

All I will add is that all of the initial area's content is unlocked by the time you help out the town of Faiori, so if you feel like you missed something make sure to check each of the three towns before heading off into the main dungeon.
