For the "immediate" part, I think irc is the most useful. You get an answer right away (if people are listening), and they don't have to commit to anything; answering once doesn't mean they must continue to answer for days.

I don't mind doing that, but if someone does, they may still be willing to answer a question occasionally.

Imma bit rusty, but I could try answer a few (emphasis on few).

Yep, the chatroom is pretty good for scripting help, aside from Skorn sending you dick pix and yeoldetoast trying to trick you into formatting your hard drive. Oh, and that Toumaz guy is a raging prick. But, you know, pretty good.
