DFArc simply WILL NOT WORK. It's so distressing.

Which specific OS are you using? Vista? 7, 8? Something much earlier?

You should try doors instead.

You could try one of the other front end (or PlayThis), but I don't think many support extracting .dmod files, so you'd have to do that manually. This shouldn't be a big deal since it's supposed to be just a .tgz but apparently some of them are nonstandard so you'll need an especially forgiving archiver to extract them.

What's the problem exactly? It's usually fine on Windows.

Never be afraid to ask, but don't demand an answer

.tar.bz2 actually. Which shouldn't be a problem at all on pretty much anything except Windows, but I think you will need to get an unzipper program to make it work on Windows.

(You need one on other systems as well, but it usually comes preinstalled.)

7-Zip works nicely, you don't even need to rename the extension from .dmod first.

Ah, right, bz2, I get those mixed up. But it's unfortunately true that some .dmod files made with older versions of DFArc are not standard complaint and may be tricky to open.

Here's the thread where I asked about this and eventually got that answer some time ago:
