These suggestions are perfect, but again, it's not in the staff's power to implement these. It's all up to Redink.
It's in the staff's power, and it is their job, to contact Redink, to make this site a better place for us all.

I agree
Note that I've already tried that, but didn't get a response. It's possible he's using a different email now that is unknown to non staff though.
A staff member who uses Facebook should try contacting him there.
And I agree that Godley's ideas are great. Also I would suggest a temporary ban feature, as a way of warning people to shape up when we don't want them to completely go away.

Have you learned the skillz to change some website stuff now? That would be kingworthy for sure.
I am sorry to inform you that I was referring to his insistence that I shouldn't be a mod. As for adjusting the backbone of this place, it is something I would like to make a meaningful contribution to someday, but what and when are both up in the air.
@ Tal
What have you done for the site, except for spam, and ofcourse, review 6 files.

It's better than spamming and reviewing 2 files.
A D-Mod is about worthy of 2 reviews. So you still got either 2 more reviews to write, or another D-Mod to make.
Bad dmods and bad reviews can also be negative contributions, making you a worse dinker than one who hasn't contributed anything...
I think a bad contribution is much better than no contribution.
No.
EDIT: It's just like the different between people who has something important, interesting or funny to say, as oppose to those who just offend people and spamm.
Both post but one in the good way and one in a bad.

I've said in the past, I don't appreciate spammers all that much, but I do appreciate spammers much more than those who don't post anything on this site.
Even ABC's creator deserves credit for spending some time (be it three minutes, for all I care) just to create entertainment for us.

Spam isn't entertainment. I'd rather read 3 interesting threads per day than 3 interesting and 10 spam threads. Having to trudge through all the useless spam to read an interesting post or two just isn't worth it.
Spam may not be entertainment, but at least the persons are contributing something to keep the site at least somewhat alive, unlike the persons who check the site now and then just to post nothing.
Hmm, yes and no. I think spam for the sake of spam is worse than not posting, because it's the general image of the site that is hurt by this.
Skull, I know why you have this opinion It's because people like you and I check back for updates so often we get bored when there's no golden "new" sign anywhere
But most people check once or twice per day, so for them, the spam is just annoying.

I see your point Skull, but for me, spam is in fact killing the site as I'm hardly motivated to even check the forum at all lately.
Spam stimulates more spam and kills worthy contributions, because most people will just leave alltogether if the forum posts don't improve. Monkey see monkey do.

But you gotta admit, if it were for the "silent ones", this site would have been dead for the last 3 years.

Valid point. And then there's the random commentators completely unlike me.

Lets stick to the tropic.
Yeah, that's what I liked about Farcry... the lush, tropical setting.

I like the 2nd one. But I think we'll need more mods for that.
It is not a choice.
I am going to bug somebody about it daily.
Provided I know who to.

Stick all your demands in a PM and send them to me.

I just sent some suggestions to Tal.
But how can I ignore your PM if you don't send me one?
Honestly.
Honestly.
Mr sword fish.
I didnt send you a PM.
But honestly speaking, I fail the need to send it, when the requirements are placed in the first post of the thread itself.

You asked who to bug.
I basically gave you permission to bug me over PM.
You have sent me a PM.
Any more thoughts you have on the matter, bump your PM with. I promise I'll read them.
Ok, chuckles?

I think tal's trying to make up for what he did to you guys just give him awhile I'm sure it will be fine.
- Updates on the site
What about.... "D-Mod of the week" (or maybe month) where one of the existing D-Mods will be chosen and featured. I think it could be fun and bring more joy into playing mods and one you might never had before.

Why would we need something like that along the RRR?
Dont relate this to the RRR, it wasnt like that i meant. I was more thinking of, maybe a stickythread that feature an already existing dmod (like creeping sands by simonk) and a brief history when it was released, what it is about and the author. The thread will be a place to discuss the mod also. An interesting concept imo.
Anyway, posting from my phone so i wont go further into details now.

D-Mod of the Week sounds like a fun idea, it could be incorporated with the Let's Play, so that the community plays one specific D-Mod that week. We could vote which D-Mod will be played that week and so on. Maybe even let players make YouTube video's of their playthrough.
I like.
I like.
Good ideas! The part about telling the history of the D-Mod is kinda like the Dinkerviews but about games instead of people.
Well then we all would have to write reviews of the file.
Look at the amount of activity that would generate.

I like the idea of a D-Mod of the Week/Month. It would be like a book club, but for cool people.
Also, an option to preview the reviews you write before submitting them would be nice, so I don't let stupid stuff slip (like accidentally making a smiley).

I would like to see more contest they defiantly seem to live up the community and bring some nice quests/romps with them maybe we can even take on ancient DDC magic and revive the DDC contest to start off.
Oh, Merlin... I actually tried searching for you the other day and didn't see any recent activity, and you seem to have either obliterated your Facebook or removed me specifically. Fancy seeing you here then!
I vote for Dmod of the fortnight!
Merlin is a rare guy to see here now. I also heard he's getting younger by the day.
And as for some suggestions, which are within our reach, I would like to see more contests indeed. We have about one per year. I'd say even two a year would give us many more quality D-Mods.

I'd like the site to have some proper server-side validation on a couple of forms, first <_<
I deleted my Facebook account. It wasn't you. Promise.
Got a couple more, just for the record. I know we're limited without access to the pl files.
- Ability to see which threads are closed/deleted (on the topic list).
- Ability to select multiple posts for deletion, instead of one at a time.
- Display the most recent IP in the site's user list.
- The reviews seem to have moved into the nasty stash? This wasn't the case with the old G8 site (the floorboards/grass layout).
