I mostly use Google Chrome these days. Sometimes when it plays up, I use Opera. If you want advise, Mozilla Firefox is the worst without a doubt.

I'm using Mozilla Firefox, works perfectly and fits my needs.

Don't get me wrong though, Chrome is fine too. IE8 however isn't. And Opera is for people who just like to be different? Like Linux users xD

There isn't a 'best'.... try a few different ones and see which you prefer.

I use Firefox because I like the look of it and the different addons/themes I use, they say Chrome is faster but hey I still prefer this

IMHO Opera
but i use firefox sometimes when i want to swithc the user agent
Chrome is good for ppl who want it simple, and dont use much functions
And IE 8 doesnt compare to the above. Maybe IE9 will be good enough.

@kyle i believe ppl who want to look diff. get Apple, so Safari is the one for them.

About Laptops Sony and Dell sell the most here in India.
my personal preference is Vaio(recently got myself EB36)

OS- i've always had windows and am quite satisfied with win 7.

Never really used Apple much so cant comment on their laptop or os. but they sure are eye candy .

Speaking of browsers. All my browsers, except Chrome seem to either not open at all, or go to "blank page" once I type something to Google or to the address box. Opera also doesn't close, no matter what. Others do. Does anyone know what could be behind this weirdness?

I object
I tried a number of different browsers for a while about a year ago. I gave them all a try, and firefox came out as the clear winner. I still have all of them installed on my PC for when I feel like it, but Firefox is now my main browser. Here's why:

I didn't like the RSS feed system for Opera in which you had some virtual mailbox instead of the simple list of links in Firefox. I also noticed that Opera tends to have more problems with displaying certain sites.

Chrome managed to crash occasionally, which normally isn't too bad except that it took my entire operating system with it. Having to restart my computer once or twice a day just because my browser decided to crash made me quit Chrome quickly. I like the integrated translation service, which is why I still use Chrome from time to time.

I actually liked IE 8, but the lack of add-ons made me choose Firefox because I didn't see the added value of IE 8. Also I felt the need to be a conformist and say Microsoft products suck for no good reason.

Firefox for me is still the easiest browser to use and it with all the add-ons that are available I can make it work the way I want. Maybe the other browser are a bit faster or use memory more efficiently but at least I can make Firefox work the way I want. If only the flash-plugin didn't crash that often... But I guess I have to blame Adobe for that don't I?

I still think Lynx is the best browser. No chance of popups!

My serious answer though is Firefox, I generally dislike IE and Safari. Never tried Opera, and Netscape is long dead (just thought I might mention it). I thought Chrome was pretty good, but for the sake of tidyness I decided to only install Firefox on my Win 7.

Let us save our effort and just lie down and die.
I'm a Firefox man - I guess I'm just used to it and like it's interface - I know how and where to do what I want to do. I admit it slows things down a bit, though. IE, well Internet Exploder, say no more. I've always personally hated the fruit, and google is looking to be the new fruit and let me "Tell" you, I'd be the first to lodge an arrow through it's smug, chrome face.

I use Firefox too. I've found the recently closed windows feature to be eminently useful, for some reason.

I liked previous versions of IE too, it's simple and opens much faster than Firefox (Firefox is a resource hog and tabs suck), with the only complaint basically being that people told me IE is not secure.

Then I downloaded IE9... okay, it's still a beta version, but holy shoot, it's not looking good. So far I haven't even been able to find the goddang find button (although the key combo still works... maybe you're just supposed to memorize all of those to do stuff).

I have IE 8, and I find its interface confusing as well. I'm not sure about 9, but in 8 if you press the Alt key the more familar menu bar appears at the top of the screen (until you click something else).

In IE8 the menu bar is just hidden. you can display it anytime by rt clicking on tab bar(or any other) and selecting menu bar.
And the Find option can be seen in the Edit menu, once its displayed.

About Opera, I actually like its feed system better. And the previous versions did had some problems opening some pages. But not anymore.

It's like that.
I use safari its almost like chrome but:
lacks crashing
Many extensions
easy to use interface
loads about 1% faster than chrome

the only thing had trouble with was getting flash player and before I got flash it crashed just about as much as chrome
EDIT afari is for apple addicts though

Aye, Alt seems to do the trick. I never noticed it hiding the menu bar in IE8, must have turned it permanently on when I first set the thing up. Apparently there's no way to do that in IE9 internally, you need to edit the dang registry for that (or at least download a .reg file someone else already made...)

Microsoft's idea of user friendliness at its finest. =)
