ModernDink?
I wondered if anyone can make a Dink sprite that rides in cars and uses guns. I started working on it but my PC is tooo slow......

We decided mode of transport tis probably a pig hehee.
All the graphics u need to do what u are suggesting are already in the orig dink with the exception of the gun - just add that to dinks pic in Paintshop or photoshop or the like.

Sorry, but really, I dont want a pig. I want the modern cars and guns cuz I'm workin on a DMOD in which Dink defeats the terrorrists in Pakistan. lol. I live in pakistan
The pig was a joke - get a pic of a car, find a pic of a gun and blend those suckers all together - for the Dink graphics u can use the ones from the orig game to do it. Good luck

Aww thanks Schnap - these are all 10 minute plays in Paint shop pro - so not really up to having anything done with it.
Marpro you can use the piggy any time u want - I too would love to see it in a dmod... err does that mean I have to make a proper pig ride in different views?? But twould be awesome aye hehe

This is a great forum as we all help each other where we can. I absolutely don't get scripting (Darn it) but can flick a couple a pics together in a passable way - ask what u like - I will try to help where I can.
All I do is use the original dink graphics - choose one that fits what I have in mind and cut and shift (rotate) his arms and legs till they look like what I want. Sometimes u have to clone bits in but play around with it for a while and see what happens. *shaddup schnapper lol*
Edit: Try to make sure what u do fits with the usual Dink graphics - if its too out there, it won't blend in with the rest of the game

Ok, Ms Dinkalot, I admit it! I'm not so good with graphics, but I can do scripting. Thanks to metatarsal for his tutorial "An Introduction to DMOD making."

Errr.... I don't know how to use the car image! How do you make it as the controllable thingy?
You will need to edit the dink.ini file to use the car sprites.
Also, most D-Mods are played from an isometric view, meaning that if you get a car going upwards and flip it, the graphics may not look right in Dink unless it's a top-down game.
I should also point out, the dink engine doesn't support .gif, only .bmp

Just one of the "want list" you wrote would take you a fair amount of time - (suck years off your life that you will never get back lol)
Ya see Dink doesn't use gif files he likes bmp's. (bitmaps) You would have to make each individual movement into a bmp file. To give you an idea how that works - theres 64 pics in the walk sequence, another 24 when hes just idle (not moving) and 48 if he is going to hit something. Thats 136 pictures u have to change if you want to change his clothes and another 136 if you want him to have a gun when u arm it. Even more if u want him to crawl thru holes and sit/die etc. He doesnt have a run sequence so you would have to make the 136 pics for that.
Change clothes:
You would have to make his tailcoat from every direction (360 degrees) then add it to the original dink graphics. For the jeans - you may find just colouring his original pants easier than sticking jeans on him and getting them to not make his bum look big from any angle - Dink cares if his bum looks big - I think its his feminine side coming out... anyways... to do that you select the area and choose to colour - if u just paint the area you loose the subtle shading that makes them look real(ish) colouring just tints it (The car he is in was tinted) (Not sure if paint does that - maybe download a photoshop/paint shop pro demo and use it before the trial runs out)?

Seriously - Unless you want it to be really jerky in your DMod, you will also have to get a pic of a car turning around in smaller increments - like from left to immediately going straight up is quite a jump and it wouldn't look too good without the other pics in between.
I will have a think about that and get back to you - I might have a go at making the car graphics...
Lastly you would need a script to make the car work - suggest you make it use the directional arrows like when Dink walks... I am no scripting guru so for that you may have to ask someone else for help - they wont do it for you but will give you tips and advice to make it easier and if u have trouble they will help u see whats wrong with your script.
EDIT: If I did the graphics Fireball - I would load up the ole playstation or XBox and photograph one of the cars you can spin around so the angles should be ok... tis the scripting where he would need massive help. Maybe have it as an item he "arms" when he wants to drive... I dunno that's way outta my league....
