ok so i released a dmod (prelude) that consisted of an entirely original soundtrack of mp3s. and also an mp3 pack. the question is was there a point. is there even an updated engine that plays mp3's? i used aural or whatever but does normal dink engine even play mp3s cause that one is pretty much outdated and also should we just stick with using midis or is mp3 worth having?

vote mp3 or midi what do you think is better in dmods

i vote midi. i mean i wasted all that time on making mp3s that i doubt anyone even cares about.

Prelude only came with midis when I got it...

Dink is still only midi but FreeDink can play .ogg files, not sure about mp3's though.

If you have the ability to make MP3s, then why still use midis? Prelude had pretty kick-ass MP3s so I'd say go for it.

Are you working on something in particular josh?

just contemptlating if i should release another midi pack and get rid of my mp3 pack.

if i recall i think redink1 wanted to have my dmod and mp3's released seperately, i think there used to be a link to download the music for prelude in the description but maybe it got lost during an update or something? i DONT have the mp3s on my own harddrive so if a staff member cant fix it or someone else can send in the mp3 files for me for a staff member to upload im afraid they are lost.

MIDI and mp3 have their good and bad sides. If you ask my mp3's would sound kind out of place, but maybe that's just me!

Midis do just fine but only mp3s can provide the extra music I want in my D-Mod sometimes. I vote mp3. Let's face it mp3s just sound better.

Ask around if anyone has Prelude with the MP3 files on their hard disk. There's bound to be at least one person who still has it around.

I myself have Prelude on my PC but unfortunately not the MP3 files.

There are software patents on the MP3 technology, and it's holders are using them actively against people who didn't pay royalties.

Thus FreeDink supports Ogg Vorbis because it's a free/open format. Ogg Vorbis is equivalent if not better, and is designed by the Xiph people so that there are not patents threats.

I encourage you to encode your songs with Ogg Vorbis

How much you wanna bet?

Definitely mp3s, they were a great mood setter for Prelude. And while regular 108 doesn't support mp3s, everyone should use Aural+ anyway. It's a superior version.
