Tragic Death of Zink Smallwood (The)
The Tragic Death of Zink Smallwood is Tim Maurer's second D-Mod still available on TDN. It is a clear improvement from The End of the World, though it might still not worth playing.
Story
Dink receives a letter from a mysterious individual named Zink, asking him to meet. He meets with him, and Zink (who looks exactly like Dink) explains he's actually his long lost brother. Meanwhile, an evil wizard robs a bank, then tries to kill Dink. But he mistakingly kills Zink instead. Dink sets out on a mission to avenge Zink and stop the evil wizard. The story itself sounds quite silly, but it'd actually fit for a game like Dink, if it were to explore the subject in a comedic way. Unfortunately, this is not the case here.
Mapping
It's better then the weird attempts from the End of the World. Generally, I'd still consider it below average. Most maps are either kind of empty, or have strange visual anomalies and design choices. Like the pine trees on a certain screen. There are some hardness errors too, but they're not game-breaking.
Gameplay
Your quests mostly involve fetching an item, and talking to NPCs. My problem with this is that they feel like the bones are there, but there's no meat to them. They're inoffensive, but uninteresting. The characters are uninteresting too.
Bugs & other stuff
Aside from the visual problems, there's the strange choice to use Dink's yellow text for the dialogue of many characters. It was likely done to cut some corners, but it sure stands out. Also, you start with very high stats (100+) - I don't know if this is a bug, or simply the case of outdated code no longer supported by modern Dink. But it makes combat trivial. It appears that Tim also wasn't that advanced with DinkC at the time when making the D-Mod. Characters just disappearing without any effects applied, and lack of animation on certain characters are sings of that. But I don't think I'd be fair to judge that part. There was also game-breaking bug, but Robj helped me out with a fix for that script. I hope the D-Mod gets updated with that, so it'll be at least playable from start to finish.
Overall
TBH, I can't say this D-Mod is bad. But I also can't say it's worth playing. It's biggest problem I think is that it's just boring. It's inoffensive, but doesn't really offer anything. It's just okay. Is it worth playing? IMO, there are other average D-Mods that, while not good, at least have something interesting going for them. So I can't really see any reason to play this beyond historical curiosity.

Storyline: Dink meets his brother Zink, but Zink is killed by a wizard. Dink sets out to revenge Zink. This D-mod is rather straight forward, but since it has some subquests it does not get boring.
Map and graphics: The map is quite empty. No new graphics, except for the item the wizard wants and that graphic looks real crappy.
Music: Fair.
Good: There is humour in this game. The bank is robbed by a wizard: the first time I saw a bank robbery in a D-mod! The end to it is unexpected, and the final end scene turns things around once again.
Not so good: There are several screenlocked screens with enemies after one and other. There is a debug.txt enclosed.
Overall: A straight forward, not to difficult game.
Fit for: If you want to play a little adventure.

In "The Tragic Death of Zink Smallwood" Dink find a letter to him, it's from his long lost (twin?)brother. At the same time a bank is robbed by an evil wizard. When the wizard see Zink he kills him as the Smallwoods have a habit of stopping evil magicians. Dink decides that he must vengeance his brother's death.
Bad:
Some things in this dmod was really really annoying. There where lots of hardness and depth-que errors, and almost every person had the yellow text as the creator of the mod was to lazy to change it. The lazyness where also seen at other locations in the game, like the sloppy tile screen and the fact that some wraps had door sound when it made no sense at all. The map was also awfully empty and linear.
The game-play was VERY unbalanced; You could kill every monster with one hit (even the end boss). The fact that the game was made this way on purpose is disturbing.
Good:
The story was interesting even though it could have been made clearer. The very best thing in this mod was the humour. I found myself laughing out loud at quite a few locations. Most of the sprites where scripted (even though there wasn't that many) which is good.
The ending was also great.
Overall:
Funny dmod worth playing! 7/10

This is a bad excuse for a D-Mod. I can't get to the grapes you have to buy probably because of a hardness error or a bug. The storyline sucks, the map is terrible, the graphics are the best dang thing in the mod, the music sucks, and there isn't much to the plot but a little interesting.
Storyline 1.0
Map 0.0
Graphics 10.0
Music 0.0
Plot 5.0
Not recommended for anyone.

This Dmod is mainly about Dink's long lost brother who was "killed" by an evil wizard, and his name is Zink.
Goods: This Dmod had exellent music, some people told me. It has a moderate story line, and I found that everything else was fine.
Bads: . I found quite some humor in it, though not much. Don't go to the guy who sells grapes that you don't want to buy some, because then the computer freezes.
Conclusion: Download this Dmod if you like Dmods that are average, and beeing average is a good thing.

This D-Mod is played out on a horizontal plane, for the most part - it is rarely more than 3 screens high. Play from left to right. There is a little combat, but you'll mostly be talking and walking here. The d-mod is well put together, and entertaining for while it lasts, but it is still very average.
