... his Ancestor 1239
... his Ancestor 1239 Demo - By Karaluch

Introduction: This is the first, and by my knowledge the only DMOD developed by this author. Before I actually start the review, I would like to note that this DMOD is not worth downloading, not out of spite, but the DMOD is actually horrible. As an unfinished DMOD you can't expect much, but you can expect some playability in a game, otherwise it's fairly pointless releasing it. I'm suprised that it has been awarded the marks it has.
Storyline: The storyline, as stated in the description is of resemblance to the hitstorial World War 2 figure of Adolf Hitler. The playable character, a "Michael Gorring" (with a strange visual resemblance to Dink) has been sent to the year 1239 to kill Hitler's ancestor. I would presume that this is to prevent Hitler from being born in future years, but you do not get to experience much of a DMOD at all to discover this much into a DMOD. The storyline is of average, and this is an example of a DMOD which cannot solely survive on a good or standard storyline. The storyline gains a very generous (5)
Gameplay: Absolutely non-existant. After a fairly 'interesting' introduction the DMOD sends you into a very standard looking world, with the usual town layout and some fair mapping. You can enter a few shops, and talk to a few residents, but besides that the DMOD is completely unplayable. The mapping and hardness here is absolutely intolerable, and will annoy even the most seasoned Dink veterans. (2)
Graphics: Safe to say there are actually a few new graphics to be seen in this DMOD, they are however in the most unplayable part, the introduction. They do however look very 'paint-drawn', and do not look like anything up to par with even the outdated Dink Smallwood Engine. (4)
Audio: There is absolutely no music at all in this modification, and the remaining audio is Dink standard. (0)
Conclusion: Not a worthwhile download, and I fail to see why 'his Ancestor' was released at such an unfinished stage. There is not much to gain from downloading, as the scripts are bare standard, and the gameplay is non-existant. My final mark of a 2.8 is of a very generous U standard.

Storyline: Mr. Michael Gorring – the sprite of Dink – is sent back in time by the time machine of Prof. Popell to kill Hitler’s ancestor.
Map and graphics: The map is nicely made. There are some new graphics in the intro movie; those are good. The farm is designed carefully.
Music: I did not hear anything.
Good: The intro movie is good.
Not so good: There are no borders on several screens, so you just stumble onto the not-visible edge before finding out there is no next screen; that is really annoying. There even is a road that leads to nowhere. Some hardness-errors. The people do not have much to say. In the intro movie there is nothing explained about what is said in the dmod.diz. There is no ending; after a while you come to the conclusion that there is no more to this D-mod.
Overall: A nice intro-movie and carefully designed maps, but that is about it.
Fit for: This D-mod holds nothing of real interest, except for the intro-movie.

A Demo in which you have not much to do. There’s a screen with a time machine… warped to another land… You can explore at bit and that’s it. The edges of the land aren’t defined. There’s a few buildings you can walk into and that’s really about it.
So basic map work still incomplete. Scripting incomplete… generally incomplete
2 out of 10. 1 for the map, 1 for the new graphics.

The plot for this d-mod has potential, but i'm afraid the d-mod does no show it. I expected a better demo than this, but the demo has almost no plot except it tells you that you must travel to the past, after that, nothing.
The mapping in the d-mod was pretty good, there were a few map bugs, but nothing major.
Scripting, pretty adverage scripting, and there wasn't much of it. Of course, there wasn't much in this d-mod except for a half completed map.
There were no new graphics except for the time machine which was a allright drawing, nothing much though.
I conclude that this d-mod could have some great potential, but as of right now it shouldn't have been released. Score, 5.0

I liked this demo, but also hated it, the idea and plot is good but in the demo they is no plot. This is a waste of good bytes on your HD. Well, Its still better than gus1.
Strengths:
The Idea is great, good, killing the ancestor of Hitler is the best Ive ever heard. The screens are nicely designed. There is no ending and there are a lot of hardness errors.
Weakness:
There is no plot, waste of HD space, terrible midi
Overall:
Bad dmod indeed. I just downloaded it and played it for 5 seconds ( or more, it was so boring that I couldnt count even more ) and deleted it.

Well, not very bad DMOD. The map is nicely designed. Also I liked intro movie. But there are a lot of hardness errors, bugs, and you cant find end. well, no, you can, but you dont know, is that end or not? Also there is one big problem- You dont know, where is the end of the map. There should be fence or even signs "End of the map". Also there should be sign when you end the game like "You finished his ancestor 1239 demo" But there also is no plot, so, you will never know, is that end or not, because no one will say, what to do next, also, there arent any one who can say "you finished the game, so leave me alone"....
But this is really not worst DMOD, it has a lot of nice screens, like the farmer farm...
OK, Graphics:
No new graphics, but screen are nicely designed. [8.0]
Sound: well, Idont heard any new sound....[7.0]
Plot:
What plot? What you mean? There isnt guy named plot! (no plot)[2.0]
Overall: Thats it. You can download it, but I dont thik you will really like it..[4.3]
