Welcome once again to another edition of Skull's Dinkerview!! For the third Dinkerview I interviewed one of the new comers of TDN, but yet someone who has managed to create something even most of our legends weren't able to! I decided to interview him, because he has been talking about leaving soon, and this might have been my last chance. So please warmly welcome, Mr.Iplaydink!! Oh also, what the hell is a Coffee n' Chocolate fudge?!

Q1: Hur mår du, Mr.Iplaydink, mina vänner? (Reply in English, please )

A1:
Hej min vän!
I’m okay, I’ve had a quite long break from school now, for the winter holiday, but this upcoming monday I’ll start again. I’m actually looking forward to it, meeting my class again, you know, but there will be heavy studies this year too. Last spring I graduated from the ninth grade, so this fall I started the (optional) tenth grade, where you can choose more which subjects you want to work with. I selected one with much math and physics and boring things like that to make sure I can study on a higher level later... so it's all work and no play, but I like my classmates so I'll manage.

Q2: How's the weather there in Sweden? I assume snowy, but the weather here in north can change from ice age to +40 degrees, so it's always interesting to know.

A2:
Ah, the weather is lovely, it's around -10 degrees (Celsius) constantly, and we have well over 50cm snow. I love this time of year as I'm a big fan of snowboarding, and around here we have many places to ride, so I do that whenever I get somebody to drive me there.

Q3: The question which everybody wants to know, as always, how did you manage to find Dink?

A3:
Ah, the story how I found dink!
I think my father had the demo on a CD which came with some magazine, which I've heard is a quite common way to find it, but as you might have guessed I was a little to young for Dink back then (I think I was like 4) but I think I wacthed my father play it for a couple of minutes.
Then when I was like 8 years old (2003 maybe) my father seached the internet for free games for me (as I was bored) and he found Dink. I played it through, with my father helping me sometimes, and looking at walkthroughs for me. I think we also downloaded some dmods but never got around finishing them.
From there I started playing dink every other year, looking at dmods, playing a little.
When I was like 13 I started playing seriously and played some D-Mods, to the end. Of course I wanted to make one myself but that failed (I think I figured out how to place sprites on the screen but I couldn't get them to do anything.
At the age of 15 I started playing again though and this time I read some tutorials and actually got a D-Mod to work, “The Bomb”.
From there you know the story.

Q4: Is DinkC the first programming language you have learned or are you familiar with other scripting languages from the past? The same could be asked about game creating in general.

A4:
I had some programming/game creating experience from before, I've always been talking on how I wanted to make computer games and when my mother heard about “Alice” on the radio she told me about it and I dowloaded it. Alice is a free program to make your own games and movies in a 3D environment, It comes with a big library of characters and objects.
It is simple “drag and drop”-programming but I learned the basics of programming, such as use of variables, if statements and loops. I didn'tt read any tutorials but my father explaied it to me, he is not a programmer himself but he works a seller and lead developer of a program, and he knew the basic of it as he had to talk to the programmers and tell them what to do
The year after I decided to give DinkC another shot and this time I got it, much thanks to “An intruduction to DMOD making”, I actually wrote “The Bomb” while reading it, as my test project, it can be seen in the bad scripting, but you can also see that I developed through the game as I wrote the game from start to end.

Q5: You are quite a new, and a young Dinker. Yet, you have still managed to do what many of us will never manage, even in thirteen years. Did you ever expect you would be such a creative Dinker?

A5:
Thank you!
No, while writing “The Bomb” I didn't think I would contribute so much more after it was done, but when I noticed that some people actually liked it I decided to make another D-Mod, “Three Amulets”. During the development of it I fell in love more and more with the engine, I felt that I could create a “real” game. It wasn't just playing as it had been with Alice.

Q6: Do you have any plans for future D-Mods or Development files?

A6:
Well I would like to see “Dink's Revenge” (the sequel to “Three Amulets”) completed someday, along with the update of “Agatha”, but they are put on hold for now, as I'm sure you know.
There's a higher chance to see development files it the near future, such as new graphics and fan art.

Q7: Where do you see The Dink Network going? Do you see a bright future or a future with dancing gnomes worshipping DDC?

A7:
Hey, Isn't that a bright future?

I think the Dink Network has gone downhill the last 6 months, to break the trend I suggest Skull as a new staff member, (as I've said many times before) this site needs an active lead.

Q8: Who's your favourite Dinker ever?

A8:
Easy! Redink1 of course! Dink wouldn't be what it is today without him!

Q9: What's your favourite D-Mod?

A9:
Lyna's Story! It has the best scripting and nice new graphics.

Q10: What websites do you hang on usually?

A10:
www.blenderartists.org, www.facebook.com and, let's not forget, www.dinknetwork.com

Q11: What do you enjoy doing on your free time?

A11:
I like Snowboarding, programming, Blender, drawing, writing, reading and to listen to music

Q12: Do you have any siblings? Such as Iplaydinktoo or Iplaydinkaswell?

A12:
Only one, a little sister called “Iveneverplayeddinkandineverwill”.

Q13: Do you have any pets?

A13:
A have a very friendly, blue, budgie named “Lillablå pippin Woodstock Lindberg”. I got it when I was like 10. I was really eager to have a pet back then but now he is unloved and unwanted by the entire family.
He is popular among the visiting girls though.

Q14: Tal vs. SabreTrout. Who will win?

A14:
Tal.

Q15: What is your favourite movie, TV show and game?

A15:
Movie: ehhh I really don't know.
TV show: Seinfeld or The Big Bang Theory
Game: This is really hard, I just completed “The Broken Sword, Shadow of the Templars”, though, and loved it, so I'll take that one.

Q16: Do you read books and if so, which is your favourite?

A16:
Oh I love to read! I read everything, so picking one is really hard... but I love Franz Kafka's “The Trail”, it's so beautifully depressing
When it comes to fantasy I'd say anything with “Lloyd Alexander”, I've always admired him as a writer.
And then there's of course Agatha Christie, another writer I really admire. She wrote over 100 detective novels so whenever you are bored it's just to pick one!

Q17: Banana or cookie?

A17:
Cookies! O.O

Q18: Are you planning on truly leaving TDN and making files for us? Because this network is going to really quiet down if you do.

A18:
Aww you'll miss me?
I'll still stay around here as it's a fun forum and playing a new dmod is always fun for a change... but I'll not make any dmods in the near future.
I'm still very active with blender and I'm working with animating a walking cycle now on a very simple human... rendering him sized for dink wouldn't be that much trouble, so if you guys where interested I could upload a new main character or NPC, but I'm to lazy to do any postrendering work such as shadow though.

Q19: If you could change ONE part in ONE of your D-Mods, what would it be?

A19:
The graphics in 3AM! It's an okay game with some fun parts but the graphics are just horrible! I could do a lot better now

Q20: Is there something you would like to comment about your files here on TDN?

A20:
I'd like to say, don't play “The bomb”, it was just made to learn dinkC, and actually it isn't very good

Q21: Are you happy with what you have contributed for TDN, in general?

A21:
Yes rather, as I said earlier I would like to make new graphics for them though... and maybe I will some day.

Q22: Which country owns the other in ice hockey, Finland or Sweden? I'd say Finland for certain reasons.

A22:
Finland of course! xD

Q23: Now my personal favourite question. What is the meaning of life? You cannot answer sex, Street Fighter nor 42.

A23:
Coffee n' Chocolate fudge.

Q24: Any last words for your friends and enemies and those inbetween?

A24:
Contribute more!

Thank you Iplaydink for this wonderful interview and the rest of ya' Dink addicts, stay around for Dinkerview #4! Hopefully which I will manage to get done soon enough! But you gotta have some excitment for waiting so long, right? *Gets hit in the head with a steel chair by DinkDude95*. Or maybe not! In any case, see you later.
