How do i create graphics?

I would like to know how i create graphics for Dink Smallwood. Do you guys use any 3D software or pixel art?
Well, most of the good ones are made in a 3D software such as 3DMax or blender. Simon Klaebe, one of the best modder used blender and created wonderful graphics. That software is free as well, just google it 
You could also make graphics in paint or in almost every similar software but the result isn't that good.
