I just don't really know what to do. It seems like you have to kill things to move on, but you just can't do anything or wield anything as a duck, can you? help

You're not supposed to kill things as a duck, you're supposed to be sneaky.

Actually there is 1 screen where you have t but there you need to let the dragon statues do the work for you and that is near the end of Dink as a Duck.
After that the real hell begins and after the hell the most fun boss in the game has t be defeated.

also, how do you cut the vines?

You need a sword for That IIRC(or might be impossible(has been ages since i last played that D-mod)

yep and that you d by drinking out of the fountain in the temple(not the entrance one) be carefull though some f the annoying bane bonca's will be summoned(and yes those buggers screenlock you )
